How to make an OC

Backstory

YEAH you're not off the hook! I didn't forget! For your backstory, it doesn't have to be a whole novel! Just jot down some key notes, such as where they live, what their job is, how they act, why they act that way, their friends, etc. Just add in anything you feel is needed. For an example, my oc Mari is still in the "Write the actual backstory" stage, and she only has notes such as: Lives in USA but is from Norway, Works as a comic book writer, still in collage, 18 yrs. old. Just don't do crazy things like: Was left in the woods from parents that didn't want them, or became a ninja. You can change those up, for an example, His mom died, and he never knew his dad, so he ran away, and lived in a small forest close to a town, then made friends with the soda squad, or maybe became really good at martial arts cu of his abusive father, he had had enough and left,   b came friends with the sods squad, ETC. (Also I will make a separate book at some point about the soda squad). There are many ways you can make a bad backstory and turn it into a good one.
