"So, are we going to talk about this?"
"What's there to talk about? I'm fine." Frank looked unconvinced as Jason snapped the football to their teammate, putting a little too much force into, what was supposed to be, a warmup and sending the ball a few feet further back than his partner was. "Fuck. Sorry, Luke!" The other boy flipped him the bird as he trotted over to grab the ball.
"Sure you are," Frank mocked, rolling his eyes and throwing his own ball to his partner. "But that is kind of how this drill is meant to go."
"I know, smartass."
"I'm just saying, Jay, it's better to talk about this stuff than-"
"How am I meant to talk about it when I have no fucking clue what is going on." Both partner's returned their balls, Jason and Frank missing them at Jason's outburst.
"Jay..."
"Fuck it. I'm going home." The blonde spun around and stormed towards the locker room, ignoring the calls from his teammates and coach. He didn't have the patience to deal with Frank's prying at that moment. He changed quickly, throwing his sweaty clothes in his gym bag and heading for the door. Frank had chosen that moment to walk through the door, concern for his friend present on his face. "Not right now, man."
"Jason, come on. You just stormed off the field. That isn't like you. What's wrong?" Frank blocked the door, trapping Jason in. His arms were crossed. "You can't get by me, bro."
Frank was right. There was no way Jason could compare to Frank if it came down to a fight, and he wasn't ready to test that. Jason sighed, his shoulders relaxing and looked down. "It's Percy."
"You guys okay?" Frank uncrossed his arms and placed one hand on his friend's shoulder. "You guys have a fight?"
"We're fine," Jason said. "We had a fight, yeah, but it was stupid. We'll get over it." He looked up to Frank and rolled his eyes. "You know boys."
Frank rolled his eyes back and chuckled. "Totally, yeah." The two boys laughed. "Give me a minute and I'll get changed. We can ride home together." Frank and Jason had been friends since they were kids. Frank's grandmother, an incredibly successful business woman, was a rival of Jason's father for years before the Zhang's had moved into the same neighborhood as the Grace's.
Jason's one act of rebellion had been befriending the grandson of the woman Jason's father complained about. The two were fast friends, now doing almost everything together when Jason wasn't with his boyfriend. "This have anything to do with the new boy?"
Jason grit his teeth. "No."
"Liar." Frank slapped him on the back as the two walked out of the locker room, heading towards the parking lot. "But it's fine. I know daddy's stunted you." Frank laughed as he ruffled Jason's hair.
"Fuck off, ass." Jason shrugged his friend off as they reached his car. "Get in or I'm leaving you here."
"Hey, Frank!" Both boys turned to see the new boy rushing towards them.
