Plop.
That's not quite the sound my lunch tray makes when I lightly drop it onto the table but, hey, at least I tried.
"Eunji! Eunji guess what!"
My best friend, Seo Dahee, is literally running towards me, screaming. By the time she actually reaches me, she's out of breath.
"Dahee, you should know not to run and yell at the same time." I scold. "I know! You don't have to nag me." She whines with a frown plastered across her face. Dahee sits down on the bench across from me, now with an excited grin.
"Moving on, there's two new kids. Not just one, two! And apparently they're pretty cute." She says the last part with a wink, causing me to roll my eyes. "I know. One of them is in my class." "What?! Lucky." More whining. I just grin at her and munch on a spoonful of rice. That was my way of saying to just forget the topic. It was too much of a coincidence with that apple this morning, I'm getting a headache. She huffs and pulls her lunch out from her bag, opening it up and popping a strawberry in her mouth. "Ah, these are so good!" She exclaims. Mood fixed.
"Dahee?" I ask with my eyebrows slightly raised and my head tilted. She quickly looks up at me and rolls her eyes. Hey, that's my thing! "Hey, Eunji, I know you only use that time with that expression with me when you want something so don't even bother." I shake my head with a small smile. "You know me so well. Which means you'd also know that I absolutely love strawberries and think you should give me one?" We stare at each other for a few seconds. I kept my head tilted. Finally, Dahee's shoulders slump forwards and she grabs a strawberry, handing it to me. I munch on it gleefully with a huge grin spread across my face.
