"Come on." Aron's dad grabbed my arm but I ripped it out of his hand.
"No! I climbed out of my window so I deserve to know where you are taking me." I argued.
"I know how you feel. I used to abuse Aron so bad I pushed him through a wall and gave him a concussion! That I can never forgive myself for. But I won't let your dad abuse you."
"What's your plan?" I asked.
"I never saw the end of the baseball game because I came here. Have you?"
"No. I wanted to."
"Well let's go find out. I have a feeling we won." Aron's dad smiled and so did I. We began to walk to the stadium.
When we got there, the crowd was a mob shouting things like, "Let justice get served!" And "That isn't fair!"
I was confused as to why they were shouting until in the middle of the crowd, I saw Aron and two police officers with handcuffs on him. The baseball players surrounded him, trying to calm down the crowd.
I left Aron's dad and pushed, shoved my way through the crowd until I almost fell on Aron.
"Elizabeth?" Aron said but I already had may r,s around him hugging him.
"I thought this was a baseball game not a protest." She said.
"Yeah well, we won. Yay." Aron said sarcastically.
"Why are you in handcuffs?"
"Your dad told me if I win we will throw me in jail. So Ted came up with a brilliant idea to tell the crowd that and now they are mad."
"Hey! It beats you being in a cop car." Ted replied.
"So the crowd is angry because you are being arrested?"
"Yep." Aron replied.
"So now the police have to make their decision." I turned towards the police. "Well? What do you choose? Support a mixed team and let Aron go free or arrest Aron and face the wrath of this crowd?" I told them.
"Listen!" Shouted the tall police officer with a big mustache. "We are letting him go. All charges are dropped." He said. He released the cuffs from Aron leaving a red mark on his wrists. The crowd cheered and soon they filed out of the stadium one by one.
We stayed on the baseball field until it was night talking and celebrating. The lights on the field made it look like it was glowing.
"So," The coach began as the team huddled around in a circle and some sat on the grass. "We have something to tell you and Aron's dad." They said. We both listened eagerly.
"The police were a good friend of mine. They weren't actually police." My mouth hung open as the coach continued to talk.
"We set the whole thing up so people would actually respect us. Now that they saw the 'police' supported us, they are slowly beginning to. Slowly.."
"Wait, was the game fake?"
"Nope. That was a real game and we just happened to win. The plan wouldn't have worked if we lost so it was basically a miracle."
"So the jail turning was a lie?" Aron's dad asked.
"Most of it. Elizabeth, your dad's threat was real. But now we don't have to worry about it because the 'police' said all charges were dropped."
The players began to laugh and joke around with one another and Aron was talking to the coach.
"Elizabeth, what are you going to do about your dad?" Aron's dad asked me.
"Oh I have a place to stay with a friend for now." I smiled.
--------------------------
I talked to the coach about how the plan succeeded.
"Do you think you will stay on this team next year?" Coach asked me.
"And leave? No way. I'm staying. Besides, I've got new friends to look out for." I gestured towards Ted and Jake who were arguing about who was a better baseball player. I laughed. Suddenly, my dad came and the coach stepped to the side, still watching to make sure nothing turned ugly.
"Aron, you made me worry so much about you!" He wrapped his arms around me in a hug and I hugged him back, embracing it while I could.
"I'm sorry for all the pain I caused you." He cried into my shoulder.
"Dad, it's okay. I forgive you. With mom gone, I know you will never hurt me again."
"I know, so as a start, I got Prince back. He is at my house waiting for you."
"No way. Thank you!" I replied. I never told him about Ted living in the shed yet. He will find out soon enough anyway. And when he does....
"And I'll let you go to college."
"Dad, no. You need me and I have this new baseball team that is going to pay me a lot of money now that they are funded. I can't leave you."
"The college is your choice to make. If no, then you can take online classes. It's your choice. And I'm fine by myself."
"Ok."
Only little did they know about the man lurking in the shadows hearing everything. The man who was father of Elizabeth. The man out for revenge.
The End...
