Chapter 3

[Daddy's little Angel]

3:45 pm

The Moore Family House

In the blink of an eye, little Suzzie made her way to the front yard in a flash leaving nothing but dust behind. In the midst of that moment, I saw the happiness in Samantha's eyes as she looked at Suzzie; it seemed like she was about to burst into tears but that storm has a long wait to come. Before a tear could leave her eye, she gazed at me and her whole entire mood changed it was like the transformation from Bruce Banner into The Hulk. "What are you waiting for Davis", shouted Samantha with a rage, "You don't expect the child to learn how to skate by herself you know". Judging by the tone of her voice, I knew that Suzzie was beyond the problem at hand. In that instance, I simply turned towards the doorway and left the room quietly; every great man knows better than to fight an argument with a woman-you would lose.

As I made my way down the hallway, I try to eliminate the endless thoughts about Samantha's attitude that seem to confuse my mind. But what bothers me the most was the fact that Samantha was always a humble soul when I met her but frequently these days have showed sign of aggression and depression; it’s almost seemed like a crucial part of her life has gone. I thought that I would help her get thought those times but they were slowly approaching again-Samantha was missing her parents very badly. I started to wonder, "Was I not giving her enough attention", random thoughts continue to flow through my mind, "or what am I doing something wrong". It was unclear to me at that point.

Hearing the click of the front door nub was like a wakeup call to me, as my wondering eyes started a search for Suzzie. I gently closed the door behind me, scouting the front yard for signs of Suzzie but she was not there. I began to worry. Before I could take another step, in the midst of silence, I glazed my head at the ground and that was when I saw her. Little Suzzie was as quite as a mouse, gazing at her new pair of sparkly skates that she was unable to put on herself. "Dad, can you help me put on my skates", Suzzie asked anxiously, "please Daddy". Without hesitation, I immediately attend to the task at hand. I slowly but gently slipped both side on skates on her tiny feet, and then tied a double knot on each side just to be safe-'Daddy is always there for his little angel'.
