After listening to wack as music in the taxi we arrived at the airport 20 minutes after.
"hey we're finally here!" Dave said with a huge smile on his face.
"yayyyyy" I say sarcastically having negative thoughts running around my mind. I shook the thoughts out of my head and let a short but loud sigh. Dave looks over at me with a concerned facial expression. "are you alright Aaliyah? you seem down" He said.
"I'm fine Dave trust me." I said but tbh he lowkey knew that I was lying. Dave knows me better then any human soul. He knows when I'm happy or sad, hungry or angry or even lonely, he even knows when I'm on my period.
As we enter the airport we show them or tickets and we sit in the food court. I bought my self McDonald's ofc and sat down. Dave got Hungry Jacks which is an Australian version of Burger King and we found a sit at a table. I finish my meal and start fiddling with my fingers. Unfortunately the negative thoughts kept coming back to me. What if nobody likes me in Chicago? What if I get bullied? What if I have no friends? WHAT IF I DON'T FIT IN? fuck this anxiety is really eating me up.
"Dave"
"yes" he says shoving his burger into his face
"what if I don't fit in?" I say biting my nails. (don't judge my I do it when I'm stressed) He then put his burger down and began to speak.
"Aaliyah you're one of the most nicest, kindhearted person I know. You're extremely strong and beautiful and I would never ever let anyone touch my baby sister, you got that?" he said making me slightly smile knowing that my brother has my back no matter what. I really do care about Dave and I love him so so much.
"Thanks big bro I love you ugly frog" I say making him chuckle which made me smirk.
"Love you too ugly rat."
A stranger walks by our table and sadly said "AWWW you guys a such a cute couple"
I CRINGEDDDDDDDDDD so bad to what the stranger had said.
"Um no we're just siblings-" Dave and I say at the same time, it was such an awkward feeling and moment that I will never forget.
Stranger then walked away smirking and I scoff.
2 hours have gone by "All passengers departing from Melbourne to Chicago please make your way to the departing area now as your flight will leave in 20 minutes."
"That's us" I say to Dave attempting to put a smile on my face as we start walking to the area.
We wait in line for about 5 minutes then hand the checkout lady our tickets. "He a safe and enjoyable flight!" she says with a smile which made us smile. "Thanks!!" Dave and I say at the same time as we enter our plane. The plane didn't look too big and it looked cozy so maybe I was going to get some sleep.
Time flies by and our food comes. We watched a movie on the TV screens and instantly I fell asleep on Dave's shoulder.
"Wake up sis we're finally here" Dave says as a long and loud yawn comes from his mouth.
I finally mange to get up and look out side. With full honesty it didn't look like I was in another continent, it felt like I was still in Melbourne.
As Dave and I walk out of the plane with some of our baggage in our hands we come across some signs saying "Welcome to Chicago!" I kinda just ignored them and continued walking. We get to the bag area and get our left over luggage that we didn't carry with us. We walk to the front entrance and my eyes were shooketh. Chicago was quite a beautiful city tbh and maybe I could get use to it.
Dave and I had saw my dad pull up in a car which I was guessing was his. He gets out of the vehicle with tears forming in his eyes and pulled both Dave and I into an extremely tight hug.
"I miss you guys so much" My dad says which made tears form in our eyes.
"We've missed you too" Dave and I say sobbing softly at the same time.
My dad then quickly wipes his tears tears away and so do we. He then takes our luggage and puts it in his car trunk.
"Get in guys and get cozy cause we have a long way to get home"
We all smile at each other once again and hop in the car as my dad drove off
