10. Destiny
After my appointment at the hospital, Dan and I headed to Calvin and Kenny's house to pick up our kids. I was so happy they were always willing to babysit them. Well, of course they would babysit Ace since he was Calvin's son, and it wasn't like they would only watch Ace and not Anastasia and Harry.
Besides, Kenny loved kids and never minded about babysitting them, unless he was sick.
Dan and I thanked them for watching the kids before we headed to our house. As soon as we got there, I took off my shoes and sat down on the couch. Dan sat down beside me, holding my hand in his. "At least he or she is healthy right now," Dan said. "I know you're scared, but I promise you, I'm going to do everything I can to make sure this pregnancy goes smoothly."
I smiled softly and gave my husband a kiss. "Thank you, Dan. I'm still scared, but all I can do is do everything my doctor's tell me."
"Yes, and in the meantime, let's take your mind off of things," Dan said. "I talked to your grandfather about the 50's event to promote the diner, and to bring the village closer since it's around Christmas time, and he said we can hold it in the city hall next Saturday."
"Do you think a lot of people will show up?" I asked.
"I think so," Dan said. "Everyone loves the diner, and going to the event will give them free food from the diner. Well, it's included with the ticket. So, want to do a bit more planning for it?
"Right now?" I asked. "I don't want to do much thinking. I'd much rather just watch a horrible movie."
"How about we watch a horrible movie while we do a bit more planning?" Dan asked. "I'll even make some popcorn, and we can eat beef jerky. Well, I'll eat beef jerky. Nobody's touching my favourite food."
I chuckled. "Sure."
Dan got up and headed to the kitchen to make so popcorn and since I was too lazy to get up, I told Anastasia she could pick a movie to watch. Anastasia and Ace loved horrible movies as well.
Dan brought two bowls of popcorn into the living room, knowing that one bowl wouldn't be enough for our family. We all loved our food.
He also grabbed some pop as well, and beef jerky just for him. After setting all of it down on the coffee table, he grabbed his laptop and sat down beside me on the couch. I played the movie and shortly after, Harry climbed up onto my lap and snuggled into me.
I was happy Harry ended up being the closest to me, since my other children were exact replicas of their fathers; one being obsessed with food and being lazy, and the other being obsessed with drama.
Dan and I did some planning for the 50's event, but not too much since we were also watching a horrible movie and eating food.
It did, however, take my mind off of my pregnancy for a bit. I was really worried about it. I didn't want to lose another baby, and I definitely didn't want to have another stillborn. Words couldn't even describe how I felt giving birth to her and having to bury her afterwards.
Halfway through the movie, there was a knock on the door, and Ace ran over to answer it. Before he could open the door, Dan stopped him and said, "Ace, I told you not to answer the door if you don't know who it is."
"Fine," Ace said before calling out, "Who is it?!"
"It's Ariella!"
"Ace, that wasn't what I meant," Dan said.
