Chapter One - Erinna Nevins

Erinna Nevins just wanted to find somebody to love, but it was difficult. She was a curvy, beautiful, green-eyed woman who got all the attention from the guys, yet the gaze of strangers was not what she wanted. She wanted more--Erinna wanted to feel that special connection with someone, that energetic and soulful meeting of hearts that brings about a vortex of ecstasy and bliss without limit. Finding it seemed to elude her. Where was this man who would bring her to her knees and give her the orgasmic joy she desired?

It's not like she hadn't tried looking for someone. But the online dating websites like OKCupid and AdultFriendFinder didn't work for her. She got hit on by just about every guy, but every dude on such websites seemed to be a creep.

I don't get it, she thought. I'm a good looking twenty-three year old, I'm an architect, I'm intelligent, I can hold my own, heck, I even donate to charity at my young age. Where is my man?

What causes a beautiful young woman to stay single? Erinna lived in Chicago and it wasn't exactly a small place. There were plenty of guys running around. But she didn't feel attracted to any of them. Oh, sure, some of them had incredible bodies and she wouldn't mind taking a spin with them, but there was no soulful connection with any of these men.

"You look like you're thinking of something," Erinna's best friend said.

His name was Isaac. He was a short, nerdy, gay man who Erinna could talk to about anything. They had known each other for quite some time and they always knew what each other was thinking and feeling.

"Why can't I find a guy?" Erinna asked. "Seriously, I don't want to be one of those people who is forty and flirting with cats."

"What's so bad about cats? I love cats."

"You can't have sex with a cat," Erinna said bluntly.

"That's exactly why you haven't found a guy," Isaac said. "Right there is your answer."

  "Come again?" Erinna asked.

"You're too straightforward. You call it like it is. It's a fine trait, and I totally admire you for it. But you can't expect an average guy to be able to see himself with you. You project this image of greatness; of awesomeness; You are pure, unadulterated supremacy. What kind of man can hold a candle against that?"

It didn't occur to her that she might simply be too good for most men. It seemed like a ridiculous idea.

"That's insane," Erinna said. "I want to find a mate, dammit. I will find a mate."

"This isn't the time for this," Isaac said. "We should go and complete our mission. It's time."

The full moon revealed itself, and the transformation took place.

Erinna transformed into a beautiful white wolf. Four legs; long bushy tail; underbelly; thick coat of fur; large ears; canines; muzzle. Isaac did the same, turning into a huge dire wolf, like those that existed in ancient times. Together they ran and ran until they reached their desination, outside of Chicago--

  --Rockford, the forest city.
