And so they met.
"Look, Isaac," she said. "You've got to be in this thing. We can't let the warlocks win. None of the other factions want them to win, but the cage is random, and merciless. We don't know what might happen. So I've brought Jessie with me."
Jessie Burke, the most powerful vampire in the world, and surely one of the contestants in The Cage.
Except she wasn't.
"Let her bite you," Pauline said. "You'll become a werevampire--and then you'll be able to take down Jessica."
"Werevampires are forbidden! They're taboo," Isaac said. I'll be looked down upon; cast away; deserted."
"Not unless you win," Pauline said. "If you win, it doesn't matter what you are or what you do. For one hundred years, the spiritual contract granted to you will allow you to do whatever you want and rule as you see fit. It's got to be you, Isaac.
He pondered for a bit--and he realized it was true. If the warlocks won, it would all be over. It was a huge sacrifice, but one he was willing to make.
"Alright. Do it."
And so Jessie Burke's fangs penetrated deep into Isaac's neck... and his transformation took place.
