________________Alex jumped up from where he was on the couch before turning towards his step-dad. "I, ah, nothing... we were just hanging out.."
The man glared at Alex before turning his attention to Michael, who was still sitting on the cushions, "who are you? What are you doing with my daughter!?" He folded his arms and looked
Alex flinched as the words came out of his mouth; his step dad wasn't to keen on the idea that he was a guy; he liked to say that it was just a phase alex would grow out of.
Michael stood up and held out his hand, "hello sir, I'm Michael. " he shook Dan's hand, looked at him, and added, "your son and I were just watching some movies."
Dan frowned when Michael said son, but didn't make any comments. He huffed and turned away, "you should probably head home. It's getting late; and I'm sure Alexa has homework to do." Alex bit his lip as he heard that name, forcing himself to keep quiet, because it never ended well when he spoke up.
Michael nodded, and turned to face Alex as his step dad left the room, frowning slightly. "Well, he's a dick..." he said, laughing slightly as he scratched the back of his head.
"Yeah...." Alex said quietly, feeling hurt that his step dad couldn't accept him. He shrugged and put a smile on his face; "anyway, sorry about all the awkwardness, i, uh guess I'll see you later?" He looked at Michael hopefully; he wanted to get to know this boy.
Michael grinned happily, and moved towards Alex before wrapping him in a hug; "absolutely cutie, I wanna get to know you better." He whispered in Alex's ear before letting him go, and walking out the door.
Alex sighed as he heard the front door shut, and rubbed at his flaming cheeks. He hated that he always blushed so easily; a hazard of being pale.
He left the living room, wanting a cigarette more than anything. As he made his way toward his room to grab his pack, he heard his step-dad call for him. He groaned and followed the voice into the study finding his step dad sitting at his huge desk, typing on his computer.
Alex walked in and took a seat in one of the two oversized armchairs that were facing the desk before sighing, "yeah, what's up?"
Without looking up, Dan spoke,
"You know, you shouldn't be lying to boys about yourself, its not lady-like..." alex ground his teeth at the remark, "well good thing I'm not a lady then isn't it, lying wouldn't be good."Dan shook his head in disappointment, "I wish you would stop this silly game Alexa, it's getting tiresome... why can't you just accept that you are a woman, and start acting like your supposed to? Your almost 19 for God's sake, can you grow up at least a little?! "
Alex growled before standing up, he had been out for over a year now, and his guardian still refused to acknowledge his gender identity. "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Talk about acting like a grown-up; why can't you just accept the fact that I am a guy, and act like you care!?" He yelled, fists balling in anger. He huffed and started to walk out of the room, deciding he didn't need to take this bullshit.
"Hold on, we ar--" Alex didn't stay around long enough to hear the rest, he ran up to his room, slamming and locking the door behind him. He grabbed his cigarettes and a jacket before climbing out of his window for the second time.
His hands were shaking with how angry he was, and the high he had obtained earlier was nonexistent now. He walked along the roof until he got to the edge and scaled down the side of the house; using the ladder his mom had had installed before she died. She knew how much he loved the roof, and wanted him to have a way to the ground incase of a fire or something.
When he reached the ground he started walking in the direction of the nearby park, lighting up a cigarette as he walked.
Alex was humming to himself, earbuds in his ears as he reached the park. He looked around the empty playground, dropped his finished cigarette, and walked up to the swing set, sitting himself down on the uncomfortable plastic seat. He closed his eyes and pushed of, swinging himself back and forth; back and forth. The motion of the swing had a calming effect on him; he liked pretending the rush of wind he felt was him flying though the sky.
________
____Alex spent close to two hours swinging in the park, thinking about the events of the day; he had made a new friend; is that what he was? Alex didn't really know what to call michael. He had had his first kiss with said boy; and had made his dad mad (which wasn't anything new...)
He sighed as he looked at his phone; it was nearing midnight, and he did still have homework to do. "Alright..." he sighed, getting off the squeaky swing, "can't avoid things forever..."
He made his way toward the entrance of the park, starting the trek home; but before he even got halfway there he heard it. "Help me please!!!"
