Something came over me and I ducked the blow. All without thinking I sideswiped the sheriff and slammed the door shut. I locked it then ran upstairs. I closed all the doors on my way, to my room. I closed my room's door and grabbed my backpack. I stuffed my laptop, my sketchbook, pencil bag and my mom's necklace. Then I slowly opened my door and tiptoed to the other end of the hallway. I peeked around the stairwell at the front door. They were still there, yelling at each other.

I descended the stairs and into the kitchen. I grabbed my baked Spaghetti and dumped most of it into a plastic container. I threw that into my backpack. I darted for the back door just as a crash came from the front door.

But it was too late. I was over the fence by the time they realized I went through the back door. I ran, thankful I didn't take off my hoodie. I had shoes in my hand, it would delay me if I stopped to put them on, so I kept running. I ran all the way to the end of the neighborhood. I stopped at the corner. It was an intersection. I wanted to go straight, but then I hear the roar of an accelerating car. I turned to see the green bug coming down the street. I turn right and continue running.

I am running still when I get to a gas station. I run inside and casually wait in line. I steal glances outside to see if they caught up. I don't see anything. I try to calm myself and think when I realize that I wasn't thinking.

I look down at my feet. They were still bare. I notice a lot of eyes on me when I bend down and take socks out of my bag, that I don't remember putting there. I shove my foot into the tennis shoes and stand back up. I keep my head down and steal more glances outside.

      "Miss?"

I turn around to see a woman, looking to be in her early twenties, maybe eighteen looking at me worriedly.

"Are you okay? Did you run away? Do you need help," the lady asks me, stroking a hand down my arm.

I started to yank my arm away, but then I couldn't think straight. I kept repeating to myself, "Obey, obey."

"Yeah. Yeah, can you help me?" I asked staring only at her.

"Let's go find your parent's then," She said.

      "Yeah. OK."

I follow her out the gas station, and around the corner to a Green bug. It has two figures in it. As I got closer I saw the two from before. They were trying to do something, but what was it? I tried to shake my head. I mentally slapped myself. Gears started turning again.

I Kept acting hypnotized and walked to the car. Hand on the car door handle. Then.

      "Nice try."

I'm gone. Running through the neighborhood behind the gas station. I notice I'm moving faster than before. I dart over a fence into a random house's yard and I stop to think. I shake my head, and lightly slap myself. I open my mind again. I look down at my hands.

      "What the..."

I wasn't being me. The real me would've been hit by the Sherriff's club and would've woken up somewhere I didn't want to be. And the lady at the gas station. Where did she come from and how did she hypnotize me? And me again. How was I running so fast and where and when did I ever learn how to dodge and Sideswipe?

     What was going on?

     "I am very impressed."

I whip around to see hooded cloaked figure. I looked him up and down. His cloak was so majestic and was something out of my fairytale's. I knew that voice.
