It has already been twee weeks since Ray Hardly was appointed as my patient and so far, I lost all treatment rights and is viewed as Ray’s visitor. Even Bobby my paranormal adviser told me I should just give up maybe it is a psychological problem. Yet I can’t shake this annoying feeling.
I did what I could and my list of supernatural beings that could cause it was running short. Maike, can she be the key to unlocking the truth or just another dead end. Maike is Ray’s 9 year old adoptive sister, however I have not approached her yet because it seems losing her adoptive big brother after the death of their parents caused her to break. It is reported that she has been hearing and seeing things that aren’t there as well as she threatens the nurses with her imaginary friend if they force her to eat. Many psychologists called me complaining about the other. The one team’s claims she is suffering because of recent events and created this friend to give her a sense of security, while the other say there is nothing to worry about she is a child with a healthy imagination. The social worker working on her case begged me to go and see her for a quick analyses to tell them if there is truly something to fear.
Two people who can’t be diagnosed and happens to be connected to each other, something else had to be going on.
At Maike’s foster home I was greeted by two loving parents scared of the little girl sitting in the corner having a tea party with her soft toy friends. The parents praised her name while keeping their distance. I asked them to go make us some coffee while I talk to Maike.
“Hey Maike, my name is Anemone I’m working with your brother Ray” the blond girl sparkled with happiness and her big brown eyes shot rainbows. “Halo, when can I get my brother back” her little soft pink lips curled into a smile all the way. “That is why I am here. You see my boss thinks your brother is really sad about something and needs help. Do you think he is really sad?” the question seemed to puzzle the little blond and she shook her head causing her ponytail to twirl. “My big brother is the strongest man alive there is not one thing that could make him sad, he scares all the bad things away” as she spoke I felt something being placed on my shoulder and the door leading outside slammed shut. “Benji doesn’t like the wind in his fur” Maike informed me as she poured me a cup of tea.
“Does Ray know Benji?” I asked while holding my little pink cup to my mouth. “Of course not that’s not part of the deal” she laughed. “What is the deal then Maike?” my shoulder felt weird as if there was a sudden change. “I can’t tell you because you’re not part of the packet” Maike then scolded her polar bear for not eating his cake and talked about the weather to the little penguin on the table.
Realizing I’m not going to get any other answers out of her I stood up and walked away. “Maike, would you like to see your brother tomorrow? I can take you to him” I offered as I pushed open the door. The only reply I received was a soft smile. As I came outside the questions were dropped on me like a cannonball from the sky. What is wrong with her? Will it be okay? The rest I didn’t even hear. “Maike is a little behind where she should be however it is fine for someone with her extreme back ground. It is nothing I would worry about”. I can’t believe it they are more annoying than the ghosts stalking my house every night.
The next day early in the morning Maike caught me still parking my car begging me to hurry up so she can see her brother. Maike came with her social worker Maria who wanted to talk to me. Before I send Maike in I went in to wake Ray up, he was laying on the bed with the blankets thrown on the ground. He was laying on his back with his one hand tangled in his hair. His chest went up and down slowly as he took a slumbering sigh. Only faint line remained on his chest where the scars were, their healing quick and good even though they will leave permanent scars.
