"C'mon, Neil!" Harrison whined, trying to drag the boy along. "It'll be fun!"
"No, no, a thousand times no," he growled, slipping out if the magician's grip. He crossed his arms and glared at his so-called "friends."
"Neil, don't be a pussy," Max muttered, pushing a branch out of the way. He let it go and it swung back, almost hitting the brunet in the face.
He flinched and closed his eyes as it flew at him, but suddenly stopped. He slowly opened one eye and saw a gloved hand holding the branch back. He glared at his savior.
Harrison smirked and snapped the branch in half. He stepped back some and bowed. "After you."
With an eye roll, the scientist followed his friend. "Why are we here anyway?"
"For the thrill of it all!" someone shouted, sounding extremely hyper. Stealing a glance at the speaker, he saw it was Preston.
"No, dammit, it's cause we lost Nikki," Max called over his shoulder. Neil groaned loudly. "Again?"
"Quit moping and just look for her!" a lispy voice cried out. One could only assume it was Nerris.
Growing irritated, the nerdy teen slowly melted into the shadows and started walking off. Hell knows where he was going, but he just need to get away from the insanity of his peers.
"You should never travel alone, y'know."
He jumped and swore under his breath. "God dammit, Harrison."
The magical male laughed and fell into step beside him. "Any idea of where Nikki ran off to?"
"Who knows," Neil replied bitterly. "I just don't understand why we have to look for her on Spooky Island."
The boys froze as thunder boomed overheard and lightning flashed. Terrified screams came from somewhere behind them, followed by "Alright, who said it?"
The strawberry blond grabbed onto the other's arm as it started to sprinkle. "I think I know where we are, c'mon!"
Neil was about to protest when another crack of thunder sounded and it started to rain harder. They ran blindly, trying to find some shelter.
Harrison caught sight of Cameron's mansion in the distance. He started running faster, pulling the other along.
They made it inside the mansion, only a little wet. Neil slammed the door behind them and leaned against it, panting.
"Well this is romantic, isn't it?" The illusionist joked. His companion glared at him. "You wish."
Snickering, the taller shook the water out of his hair and dried off his top hat. "Whatever you say, pretty boy."
"Prick."
"Cutie."
"Asshole."
"Sweetheart."
"Faggot."
"Ouch," the performer murmured, holding his hat over his heart. "That stung."
"Good," Neil said playfully. He spun around and walked into another room. "Now, are we going to look around, or what?"
Harrison watched his crush leave with a sigh. "The sexual tension between us is unnerving," he thought, wandering off into another room.
Which just so happened to be a library.
"Hey Neil, I found your nerd cave!" he called over his shoulder, waiting for a smartass comeback. He wasn't disappointed.
"No you didn't, because I'm already in the lab."
"It's the next best thing, though!" He started walking beside a bookshelf, running his fingers over their bindings. There was an annoyed sigh and distance footsteps. Eventually, Neil came in.
"What'd you... Oh," he trailed off, looking around the room in wonder. Harrison couldn't help but smile. "Told you."
At that moment, a book he touched fell to his feet, its cover glowing. He bent down to pick it up, curious.
"Har, I wouldn't touch that," the other male murmured. Ignoring him, he picked it up anyway and read the title aloud.
"Fairytale Classics," he mumbled. He heard Neil come up beside him to look. "It's... Glowing," he whispered.
"No shit," Harrison said back, earning a punch in the shoulder. "Don't open it though. I don't trust it."
"Why not?" he scoffed. "It's just a book, what could go wrong?"
And with that, he flipped it open to the first page. His eyes widened as everything flashed a whitish-gold color. The last thing he heard before blacking out was, "God dammit, Harrison...!"

A/N: Hello! This idea kinda came out of no where and has spiraled into this. I guess you can say it's an AU of sorts? I'm not entirely sure. But anyway, enjoy!
