"Ok, why does everyone know about this prophecy but us?" Neil asked in an annoyed tone.

The fairytale characters ignored him. Max was pacing back and forth, looking scared. "No no no, you've got the wrong story. I can't possibly be involved in this."

"Well, you are," the godmother sighed. Her eyes lit up and she smiled. "Now, we're going to tidy you up for that ball!"

"No, no, hell no," the ravenet muttered over and over again. He slowly started to back away from them. "I'm not doing that."

Tink rolled her eyes. "Well you're not going in rags. Plus you gotta look sharp for Charming."

"Charming? Prince motherfucking Charming?" Max repeated, putting emphasis on every syllable. The rest of the group nodded.

"Oh god..." He started pacing again. "This isn't happening..."

"Oh, it's happening, sweetheart," Nerris stated, just a little sass in her voice. "And these boys are gonna help you get there."

She pointed her wand at Neil and Harrison and they tensed up. Without thinking, one of them linked hands with the other.

The stepbrother looked them up and down. "Ok. But what's in it for me?"

"You'll be married to Prince Charming," the magician finally spoke up.

"Plus you won't have to deal with your asshole step family," the other added on.

He pursued his lips, thinking. "... And what's in it for you?"

"We can go back to the real world."

"Ok... And how do you know this plan is going to miraculously work?"

The four exchanged glances. A plan? They had no idea what they were doing, honestly. Hell, the boys didn't even really know what they were getting into. They couldn't admit this to the soon-to-be prince, though. Before anyone could come up with something, the godmother came to their rescue.

"They'll be at the castle before you to persuade him," she said quickly. Neil's eyes widened and he was about to cut in when Harrison squeezed his hand. "Wait... We're still holding hands?"

Max's gaze flicked between the four. "I don't trust a single one of you fuckers..." he said quietly. "... But if it's for the sake of the prophecy, I'll go."

Tink smiled at him. "Great! Now, I'll leave you with Ner- the godmother to dress up..."

"No, that's not-" the jaded boy started. But the godmother just pointed her wand at him and chanted those three famous words: "Bippidi Boppidi Boo."

The white light swirled around him despite his protests. It remained around him a little longer than it had with the other teens. They were stunned when the light dissipated, leaving the new-and-improved Maxwella.

He was in a shiny, dark blue suit, with a black rose tucked in his pocket. His hair, which was once a curly mess, was now in a slightly better condition. He looked, surprisingly, decent.

"See, you look spiffy!" The fairy chirped. "Minus the frown, that is."

The tan teenager just glared at her. "I feel... Clean," he murmured, sounding shocked.

"That's part of the spell," Nerris told him. "And it's supposed to last til midnight, but I'm feeling generous. It'll wear off around three a.m."

He nodded slowly. "Ok... How do I get there?"

"I'll take care of that," his fairy godmother stated. She turned back to Tink. "You three need to get to the castle asap."

The other fairy gave her a Camp Campbell salute. "On it, Miss!

She darted over to Neil and Harrison. "Buckle up, this is going to be a bumpy ride!" She giggled, throwing a glittery substance on her. Before they could question her, she clapped twice and the world flashed white.
