we talk a lot about hope, helping, and teamwork.
our whole message is that we are more powerful together.

Of course Max loved to go on vacation with his father, but since his dad Alec and his older brother Rafe died his young warlock-life changed a lot. Max never talked about both of them, either about Alec or Rafe. He didn't want to reopen old sores, even though thirty years already past since Alec and Rafe died. But what were thirty years in a warlock's life? Right. Nothing.
When they came back from Europe - this time they traveled like mundanes by a airplane - Max was incredibly tired. In the last ninety years he nearly saw the whole world, except for Peru. Magnus never told him, why they never traveled to Peru when Magnus still love the country.
»I guess we need a party, papa.«, said Max and threw his bag onto the black leather sofa, »We could invite.. Oh! How about some seelies? Just for fun. The last party must have been a century ago. You could send aunt Catarina a message. Papa? Are you listening? Hellooooho!«
»A party, yes.«, Magnus responded crisply, while Max went into the kitchen.
The blue-skinned warlock - well, only his hair were blue, because he hid his blue skin and his horns with glamour - looked around and searched for a good whiskey.
»Do you want some too?«, he asked his father and waved with the bottle, »Or do you prefer an appletini? I could mix you one.«
»Appletini.«
Max sighed. He already accepted those short answers from papa Magnus, for sure Magnus was just tired. Or his nerves were raw. Max was unbearable the last days in Spain, because Max wanted to have some great fiestas, drinking sangria out from a bucket. Instead the two of them sat at the beach and melancholy watched the waves breaking. How lucky that Max could be as lazy as he liked to party. Otherwise he wouldn't have bear that blue mood.
Five minutes later, Max came back into the living room, holding a glass of appletini and another glas of whiskey in his hands. He became aware of the fire message and now knew that the short answers were because of that fire message.
»You know what? We're in the 22. Century. Why do they still use those old-fashioned fire messages?«
He put the appletini on the small table and drank a bit from his whiskey.
»Please don't tell me this is an emergency.«, Max begged.
Magnus sighed loudly. Of course it was an emergency. Shadowhunters always had emergencies.
»Max, we're heading right to the institute. There's no discussion.«, he said, interrupting his son before he could complain in any way, »It won't take long. I promise.«
With a dapper wave of his hand the fire message disappeared and Max sighted loudly.
»Meh. Then we're heading to the institute.«, Max mumbled and sighted again, while Magnus opened a Portal.
»You can have your party when we're back home, Max.«
»I hope you hold your promise.«
Of course Max would have loved to discuss with papa Magnus, but he knew that he already punished him to death, he was annoying as hell. And Max also knew that his father wasn't Magnus Bane anymore. Magnus Bane wasn't the warlock who loved to throw extravagant parties anymore, he wasn't the warlock who made himself up with way too much glitter on his face and stroke with his very special wardrobe. Something died inside of him when Alec was dead. And one more time with the dead of Rafael.
»See ya.«, Max said and finally went through the Portal.
A few seconds later he found himself in the New Yorker Institute and looked around, before he started to grin brightly.
»Hey, Bumblebee! What's up?«
Max didn't remember the real name of Bumblebee. Something with B... Or A.. May something with M. Whatever, Bumblebee reminded Max of one of the transformers, some ancient movie, but Max loved that transformer-movies. It must be about the blonde hair.
»Your hair got lighter, Mr Lovelace.«, he said, still with a grin in his face.
»I'm glad to see you too, Max. Where's your father?«
Well... It looked like Bumblebee wasn't in the mood for Max' third-string jokes.
»He's on the way.«
Magnus throw on a jacket, sipped his appletini and afterwards went through the Portal.
»Magnus.«
»Why did you call me?«, Magnus responded and looked over his great-nephew.
»You wouldn't believe it, Magnus.«, Bumblebee stifled and started to walk away.
Magnus, and also Max, followed the blonde haired guy and Max looked at his father.
»I know he's some sort of a.. Great cousin or something like that... But what the hell was Bumblebee's name?«
Magnus could remember neither. Instead of an answer he made a sibilant and Max silenced. Then Bumblebee would named Bumblebee further. The two of them still followed through the long corridores of the institute. Here and there Max could See those empty rooms and he remembered how he played with Bumblebee - his nameless third or fourth grade cousin - and his sisters, running through the corridors. And of course together with Rafe. And then Max wondered where Bumblebees kids were.
But he couldn't think about further, because they stopped in front of a door.
Curious like Max was, he looked into the small gap of the nearly closed door.
»Actually... We cannot explain how this could happen.«, Bumblebee said and opened the door.
»What the...«, Max mumbled and widened his eyes.
