Adrien kept to the more crowded streets to get away from the ones who were supposed to keep an eye on the blond. In a matter of minutes, he was able to leave the side of the two, unnoticed.
He heaved out a sigh as his kwami's head popped out from his bag. 'Adrien, can you get be a roll of cheese if you're going to where I think you're going?'
'The Dupain-Cheng's bakery? Yep.' He replied as he turned a corner. 'I barely had anything to eat this morning.'
The blond teenager stopped in his tracks as he felt someone tapping this shoulders. At first he thought it was his father's assistant, Natalie who had caught up to him, but sighed in relief as he heard not Natalie's voice, but another familiar one.
'Sorry, you... dropped this...' Adrien turned around to be met with a pair of blue bell eyes staring at his bright green ones.
In Marinette's hand was his wallet that he assumed had fallen from his pocket.
Honesty. That was what Marinette aimed to be after being disowned and abandoned. She vowed to be as honest as she could, so that maybe, just maybe, she could make up to all the faults she had done in the past.
'U-uh..... Thanks!' The blond took back the item in slight surprise at Marinette's appearance, and proceeded to put it back in his pocket. 'My dad would've killed me if I lost this!'
'Yeah, you shouldn't be walking around these parts alone, unless you want to be robbed. It's a busy and crowded place, but it's still easy for criminals to do their work here.' The dark haired teenager advised him, not daring to look at Adrien in the eyes anymore. 'It's safer near the Eiffel Tower. You should head there if you still insist on wandering alone.'
'Uh.... thanks for the advice?' Adrien replied sheepishly as he rubbed the back of his head since he didn't really know what to say.
Nodding slightly, Marinette turned to leave. 'Then... I'll be off.' She spoke in a monotone, though it was still bitter.
'W-wait! May I know your name, at least?' The blond asked her, making her stop dead in her tracks and turning around to finally make eye contact.
Those bluebell eyes of hers always caught Adrien off guard. Its beauty was absolutely stunning, beauty that couldn't be described with words. Too bad that behind that pair of eyes was emptiness of the depressed girl who was suffering, alone.
One look into the dullness behind those eyes, anyone could tell that their was no life behind those bright bluebell eyes. The girl behind those eyes was dead, unmotivated.
'M-my name..... is Marinette.' She smiled to herself as she looked at the ground, chuckling slightly, nearly choking on her own words. It was an empty smile, that held no true happiness. 'Not that you'll ever need to use it. I don't think we'll be seeing each other anymore after this.'
'Hey, life is full of surprises. You never know. Maybe we will.'
Marinette was left with her mouth opened slightly at those words, before she chuckled, breaking the silence between them. Once again, it was an empty laugh that concerned Adrien. 'You're funny. What's your name, then?'
The blond smiled at the question. 'I'm Adrien. Adrien Agreste.'
It's short, I know, but I'm satisfied. I'm thinking of adding a little more to this story. Now it'll be a story of a criminal turning into a hero as she recovers from the past.
I enjoy reading about people overcoming their depression, and dark times. It cheers me up for some reason, even though I so badly wish that it was me who's recovering. But now writing one... I think it'll be better, since it's an activity that's more healthy for me.
I'll take a break from forcing myself to write funny, happy stories. This year, I guess I'll aim for my own happiness, my own satisfaction.
