Kyrie walked to the living room where only a handful of people remained. As he turned to walk up to his bedroom, a ring caught his attention. He knew it was LeBron's phone, he grabbed it and rushed back outside, yelling his friend's name and waking him up. "LeBron! Yo, Bron! Get up! It's the police, they're calling!" Said man immediately sat up and grabbed his phone from his friend's hand, answering it with anticipation in his voice. "Hello? Detective? What is it?" "Mr. James, we found him. Stephen is safe."
Bron just about cried right then, tears were already forming in his eyes. "Thank God. Thank you, thank you so much." "Of course... He was unconscious when we found him, but he's alive... We are transporting him to a hospital now. You and your friends can feel free to meet us at Providence Hospital... He's going to be okay, LeBron"
"Thank you. We are on our way, right now." Kyrie already knew what the call was about, he laughed and wrapped his arms around his friend, squeezing him tight in a hug. "He's safe, Bron... He's okay." LeBron finally let his tears go, flowing freely as he cried in pure joy. Kyrie was able to calm him down enough and get him up so they could go to the hospital. They rushed back inside and grabbed the remaining teammates, piling into a couple cars.
"They found him?" "Well, is he okay?" "Is there any news on his physical or mental condition?" "Oh my goodness, this is great!" "Thank god!" All that plus a mix of multiple other reactions filled the cars as they sped off toward the hospital. "Oh, I'm so glad things worked out... Stephen is like family to all of us... I'd hate for anything to happen to such a sweet kid." Kevin's wife spoke up, gently patting LeBron's shoulder. He returned a smile, and that was the entirety of the talking for the ride to the hospital.
As soon as the car was parked, LeBron jumped out, sprinting into the building and to the front desk. The lady sitting there greeted him with a sympathetic smile. "How can I help you? Who are you here for?" "Stephen Curry. How is he?" After a few clicks of the keyboard, she looked back up. "He is in room 121, now. A detective just checked him. There isn't any information on his condition at this time but you may see him. Go down the hall and turn left, second door on the right." Bron nodded.
"Okay, thank you." Then, he was off running down the hall with his teammates close behind. As he came to the door, he went to open it but somebody beat him to it. It swung out towards him and a nurse walked out, looking up in shock as she nearly ran into LeBron. "Oops, I'm sorry." "No, it's okay... Do you have any information on Stephen and his condition, by any chance?"
"Yes, I do... A doctor is inside with him right now, our psychologist. She's trying to get information on the situation... As far as we can tell, without running any tests yet, Stephen has been put through quite some amount of physical trauma... He is covered in bruises and cuts, and he's in some obvious pain... We didn't want to run any tests without any form of consent, but Stephen hasn't said a word since he's arrived... Maybe, you could talk to him? Go ahead and go on in, it'll probably help." Then, she walked away.
"Go in, Bron. He'd want to see you first." Kyrie patted his back and nudged him towards the door. LeBron nodded and slowly pushed the door open, giving light knock and stepping inside. He closed the door and looked up, his eyes scanning the room until they landed on the hospital bed. His mocha eyes lit up as they finally found his baby, sitting curled in a little ball on the bed. As Bron took a step forward, Steph finally looked up and the larger man noticed the obvious tear streaks. "Bron?" The single whispered, emotional word croaked out as the smallest smile broke out across the light man's face. "Baby?"
