Chapter 1

Astra shut the book she was reading and rolled over on her bed, only to find Jamie right there, staring at her.

"Jamie!" Astra frowned, "You scared me. What're you doing here?"

"I'm your little brother, I'm allowed to be here," Jamie said with a grin, brushing a strand of his black hair out of his face, blinking his wide hazel eyes.

Jamie had his mother's hair, and his mother's hazel eyes, but he had his father's face.

"That's not an excuse," Astra sighed as she put her book on her bookshelf, which stretched around her entire room, from the floor to the ceiling, piled with stacks and stacks of books.

"Well, it is for me," Jamie said with a shrug, "Anyway, Mum wanted to take us to Diagon Alley to get supplies—and she's got to get some Potions Ingredients too, for her classes."

"Is she still splitting classes with Professor Snape this year, like last year, how she takes classes on Tuesdays and Fridays and Snape takes classes for the rest of the week?" Astra groaned, "I don't understand why Dumbledore doesn't just replace Snape with Mum."

Jamie shrugged, "None of my business." He pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose and shook out his hair, "Well, you should come soon. Mum's getting a bit impatient."

"Okay, just tell her I'll be a minute," Astra said, pulling out her ponytail and redoing her brown hair.

Jamie smiled, and then jumped off of Astra's bed with a 'crash' and ran out of her room, slamming the door behind him, singing loudly as he stomped his way down the stairs.

Astra heard something smash, and her father yelled, "JAMES POTTER-LUPIN!"

"SORRY, DAD!" Jamie yelled back.

Astra laughed quietly to herself as she got dressed. They'd be going back to Hogwarts in a week, and they were getting their supplies quite late, although they weren't in much of a rush anyway, seeing as Ardelle had plenty of experience with getting to each of the shops extremely quickly.

Astra's mother, Ardelle Potter-Lupin, had been teaching at Hogwarts for three years now, ever since Jamie turned seven and was old enough to somewhat look after himself without causing much trouble.

Being a teacher at Hogwarts had been one of Astra's mother's dreams, and it was nice seeing her mother come home every day with a smile on her face.

Remus mainly ran errands for Dumbledore, and worked for Dumbledore as a loyal Order Member and continued investigating the events happening in the Wizarding World, looking out for every sign of a Death Eater or Lord Voldemort.

His job was basically investigating around the Wizarding World for any suspicious activity and reporting to Dumbledore. He'd studied to become an Auror, and gone through hard training for many years—Astra still remembered the days that she wouldn't see her father home at all.

But even though Remus had done all of the training and more, he hadn't been able to be hired, because the Ministry had known of his lycanthropy and refused to hire him due to it.

It was Remus' biggest regret, to never be able to gain a proper job to support his family, but instead of working as an official Auror, Dumbledore was willing to give him jobs to do, and put his Auror training and talents to good use.

So although Remus wasn't officially an Auror, he was still working hard and gaining and income for his family.

With a sigh, Astra wrapped a silver scarf around her neck, to match her green skirt and grey sweater, before heading downstairs, grabbing her bag from beside her door on the way out of her room.

"ASTRAEIA! ARE YOU COMING?"

"COMING!"

"I hate yelling in the Manor," Ardelle grumbled, rubbing her throat, "I shouldn't have."

"You do it anyway, Mum," Jamie said with a grin as he tumbled out of the fireplace, joining his mother and older sister in the Leaky Cauldron, "We tell you not to yell at us, but you always find a reason to yell at us anyway."

"That's because," Ardelle ruffled Jamie's hair, "you are a naughty boy."

Slightly disgruntled, Jamie straightened his glasses, flattened out his black hair somewhat and groaned, "Mum, don't mess up my hair."

"I don't," Ardelle said with a wink, "It's already messy anyway, James."

Astra laughed softly, "She got you there, James."

"Please call me Jamie," Jamie said, shooting his older sister a glare, "I thought we'd already discussed this."

Astra shrugged, turning to her mother.

Ardelle raised her hands and said, "Don't look to me! I didn't call him—,"

"Actually, Mum, you did," Astra pointed out.

"Okay, okay, fine," Ardelle said with a sigh, "Well, you two both brought your lists, right?"

"Yes, my Third Year list is right here," Astra pulled out a folded piece of paper from her pocket, "Jamie? Did you bring yours?"

"Uh, obviously," Jamie said, rolling his eyes, "What, did you think I'd forget?"

"Actually, yes," Astra said, raising an eyebrow, "You always forget things—sometimes I forget that you're actually eleven years old."

"I think I did," Jamie said, his eyes widening, "Oh, Merlin, I think I did."

"James," Ardelle said, narrowing her eyes. Maybe other people couldn't see past James Potter-Lupin's innocent face, but Ardelle could.

"Okay, okay, fine, I actually brought it," Jamie said with a grin, "But I got you, right?"

Astra rolled her eyes, and Ardelle shook her head.

"Nope, you didn't," Ardelle said, "Come on, children. We also have to pick up Leo's things, seeing as he's busy today, at the Weasley's place. Are you guys excited to see your cousin Harry again?"

"Yeah," Jamie said, "But I've never met him. Why aren't I allowed to see him?"

"I try, really, I do," Ardelle muttered, "But Dumbledore said that you couldn't see Harry outside of Hogwarts. So, we can't disobey Dumbledore's orders."

"Why not?" Jamie challenged, "I disobey your orders."

"Yes, but you shouldn't, you little troublemaker," Ardelle ruffled Jamie's hair again affectionately, before adding, "Anyway, that's not important. He has to stay with his other Aunt and Uncle, and that's final. Anyway, you'll both be seeing him this year. Isn't that exciting?"

Jamie grinned and nodded excitedly, and Astra smiled.

"I'm sure you'll like him very much, Jamie," Astra said, "Though I'm not sure if he'll approve of your troublemaking."

"Oh, please, nobody does," Jamie scoffed, "But that's not important. As long as it annoys him, I'll be completely satisfied."

"Merlin, you're such a weird child, James," Ardelle laughed.

"Jamie, Mum!"
