Chapter 7

Alice’s P.O.V.:

I groaned when I woke up with the sun hitting my eyes. I hate the light and the sun. The moon was so much better and nicer on the eyes. Rubbing my eyes I got up and headed to the bathroom to get ready. Today was school so I brushed my hair and put it in a simple fish braid down my right shoulder. I picked up my uniform and plopped them on. It was simple: white shirt, blue and black striped skirt and tie or simple red tie and skirt. Today I chose to wear the red tie and skirt. I looked in the mirror and noticed the tattoo. I had to cover that up so I applied concealer and foundation on it. It looked as if nothing was there. I smiled a little bit.

After that, I walked downstairs, grabbed my school bag, a granola bar and my keys but just as I was about to leave, I remembered that I forgot something: my round fake nerdy glasses. I went back up and got them. I exited the building after slipping them on.

I walked to school like I always did. Halfway there I threw the wrapper of my breakfast on the floor.

“No littering!” a guys voice rang out. I turned around and saw Domino, the school’s head boy. He had the weirdest name ever, like seriously! Who calls a guy Domino? I gave him a sickly sweet smile which made him narrow his eyes at me.

“I don’t care.” I said then walked off. I think I heard him call out the word ‘freak’ when I turned the corner. I just shrugged it off and started whistling.

People were murmuring about me when I entered the school building. They were calling me names such as freak, nerd, geek and such. I don’t really care nor do anything because they’re not worth it. I rolled my eyes and walked to my tutor room.

Skipping to break…

Finally it was break. I can have freedom! The classes were all utterly boring, so boring that I fell asleep which almost brought me detention. Mr Parker saw me sleeping and asked me to answer the question that was on the board. I guessed 57 and was correct earning me a way out of detention. Now I was on my way to my private spot, the roof. No one goes there except me since they know that where I always stay at. The only ones who dare go there are what you would call my clients.

I was walking down a hallway when a group of boys turned the corner into the same area. They were the ‘known’ or ‘popular’ people who everyone - even the lowest of the social ladder - knew about. There were four of them this time. I haven’t really bothered learning their names so I just call them by the colour of their hair: Blue, Black, Ginger and Blonde. They were all incredibly handsome but arrogant jerks.

They started laughing and whispering to each other when they spotted me. I rolled my eyes again. I don’t know why, but Blonde suddenly caught my eyes. There was something familiar about his face, the way it shone in the light.

He had long hair that came just past his shoulders, blue piercing eyes and a red jacket with the hood up – he always wore a hoodie. On his hand he wore gloves, no wait… its bandages with some sort of thing stuck on the back of his hand. Click! went my head when I finally realised where the familiarity came from. He was that guy who was my supposed roommate.

I smirked at him like I knew something he didn’t when I walked past him. He looked back at me confused then I heard him whisper something to his friends.

I ascended the stairs that leads to the rooftop when I turned the corner. The wind whipped my face as I stood looking over the city by the railings. Blonde, what was his name… Yves Benedict, wasn’t it? I recalled what happened last night only to realise that he had white hair then not blonde. What the hell?

I spent all of break on the roof top listening to music on my phone. The next class I had was music. I suck at all instruments except the piano. I was exceptionally well at that. It helps me let out my emotions and thoughts through the melodic notes that come out from it. It makes me feel free. But, I do not play the piano in public. No one has ever had the privilege to hear my play, even Cecilia.
