july 13, 2015 - hansol's dorm

the sound of choi hansol's phone ringing wasn't something he was expecting to hear at 2:45 in the morning. he sighed, realizing it was probably about some irrelevant class that he needed to make up before the summer ended. he might have been awake but he wasn't in the mood to answer any calls.

he figured he might as well answer, since he had nothing else to do. when he picked up the phone, he was more than shocked. melon magazine, south korea's most prominent fashion and lifestyle magazine, had just called him and asked him to model for their next issue.

he was utterly confused at how he even got the job, considering he had never auditioned or sent them any headshots. he decided to call his best friend seungkwan and fill him in on what just happened.

"hello?"

"hey, guess what?"

"what?"

"I got a modeling job! for melon magazine!"

"tell me something I don't know. I got you the job, stupid."

"wait what? but how?"

"well, I have connections. my sister, you know how she works for them? well, she told me they were looking for a fresh new face, and I immediately knew who it should be. so I sent them those pics chan took of you on the camping trip and they loved you!"

"but...those pics were just a joke!"

"clearly they were. anyway, you're gonna make a great model. you might need a new wardrobe to impress the people though. I'm coming over in 10. be ready!"

"but—"

"no buts! see you soon!"

he wanted to continue but his friend had hung up. he shrugged, setting his phone down on the wooden nightstand near his bed. he laid down, staring up at the ceiling. his mind was a jungle of thoughts at the moment, but the most tangling one was how he, a broke 3rd year college student, was gonna be a model.

what he didn't know was that he'd graduate and end up modeling full-time, becoming an icon in the industry and straying far from his major, which was engineering.
