Charlotte's POV

"Dodge the ball, Charlotte! You can't just stand there and get pelted." Andie said. Easy for her to say, she was the best in gym class. She nearly got everyone out on the first try. "Haha, look at poor Charlie, getting hit with the balls. Too bad she can't get the other kind." Melanie laughed.

Normally, I didn't like showing my temper. But Melanie was a different case. She was my best friend, before I caught her with my boyfriend Samuel in the 9th grade.

& Flashback &

I had two tickets to the Saints and Colts game, back around 3 years ago. I was so nervous that night, I was literally shaking. I knocked on the door and his mother, Samantha Greene, opened the door. "Charlie! It's so great to see you, dear!" Samantha had said before throwing her arms around me. She smelled like expensive perfume and liquor.

She'd just gotten back from one of her debutante parties. She was always doing stuff for charity, and I loved her for that reason.

"Is Samuel here? I wanted to say happy anniversary. It's our 1 year." I said nervously, playing with the tickets behind my back.

"Sorry, honey, he's not here." Samantha stammered. I knew she was lying. "Samantha, come on, let me talk to Samuel." I begged. "You don't want to go up there." She murmured. I passed her by, irritated.

When I got up there, I heard laughs and moans. I just stood by the door, listening. I didn't dare peek in. When I got up the courage to knock, I heard nervous whispering.

I then opened the door and gasped at the sight. Samuel was in his boxers and Melanie was butt-naked under the blanket.

"MEL?! SAM?! HOW COULD YOU?!" I cried. Melanie blushed and I held up the tickets. "Maybe you two can go together. Wait, no you can't!" I said, before ripping the tickets in half. Samuel's eyes widened and I stormed out, crying. Samantha tried to stop me but I glared at her.

"Tell him not to call me." I said. That night I deleted his number from my contacts and labeled him as blocked number.

& present day &

Melanie and her crew were laughing but the anger inside me was boiling. I nearly jumped her, but Andie grabbed my arms.

"She's not worth it. Let's get to the next class, the bell rang already." Andie said, pulling me to the locker room.

After taking a shower, I carefully put on some cargo shorts and my white half shirt with wedges.

"Come on, let me do your hair." Andie begged. I gave in and she did this cute little twisty chignon bun.

"Aww, it's so cute. Thanks, Andie." I smiled. I wasn't an extremely soft person, but Andie was so sweet, I had to give in to my soft side. I got up to go to my locker, making it with about 4 minutes to spare.

"Hey there, Charlotte, right?" Someone asked. I looked up to see Ryder Harrison, the hottest boy at school. I rolled my eyes at him.

"It's Charlie. And what are you doing here, Ryder?" I asked him, pissed. "I just wanted to walk you to class." He said, sounding hurt.

"Cut the crap, Ryder. I know Melanie sent you here to lead me on and then break me. I mean, isn't that what a girlfriend is supposed to do?" I say.

"You know her so well. How?" Ryder asked. "Well, I'd tell but I don't want to." I say before closing my locker.

A group of people come down the hallway, around my age, but they look. . . different. One had green hair, the other had white and one looked like a mermaid.
