So I guess I start with my backstory. I was born on January fifteenth, in 1997.
When I was born, I was going to be named Karma. Reasoning behind that? I don't know. I mean could you imagine the kids at school? "Karma's a bitch!" I mean seriously, what was my mom thinking? But that's besides the point; when my mom first saw me, I had these bright blue eyes. Hence my name; Topaz.
Growing up, I was a normal kid for the most part. Had my good friends, one in which is still my best friend today. Her name is Lauren, but I'll get to her later. Had a good time in school, never really bullied. I had a very close relationship with my family and friends.
Like I said, my childhood was a fairly normal one. Besides the fact I could see things. My parents were actually quite concerned for my sanity. And they still are. You see, I'm not normal. I hallucinate and I have these nightmares. Every night, I see things. The dreams seem so real. All five of my senses are working. I can see, taste, touch, hear, and smell everything.
Oh, and Her.
She's a dreadful thing. With her long, sharp claws on those pale, bony hands. She's always there. Whether it's right in front of my face or if she's watching me, yards away. She has never actually hurt me in a dream, though I feel like she will someday. But if she does...
Well, let's just say I have a dream. I trip in the dream and scratch my knee up a bit. When I wake up, I'll have that scratch. Do you see why I'm afraid of Her now?
But that leads to tonight's dream. And my last four or five dreams. They were nothing. Pitch black the whole time. I haven't dreamt. Why isn't she in my dreams anymore. What is she doing? Where is she?
