So... Lauren. My best friend went to a party about a week ago. She got excited and drank a bit too much. She must've thought she would've been ok to drive herself. But she wasn't. She got in a crash and has been in a coma ever since. It's hard to not have my friend with me. Thankfully I haven't had nightmares since then. She's the only one I can trust and tell these things too, besides my parents.

But I'm afraid they're going to start up again soon. But I have to forget about it for now. I was on my way to visit her in the hospital.

"Hi, I'm here to see Lauren Becker."

"Second floor, room 221." The receptionist replied.

I jogged up the stairs and quickly walked through the passing people, some in tears.

I got to the room and looked trough the window and knocked. The nurse opened the door and let me in.

"I'll give you a moment," She walked out.

I sat down and gently brushed my long dark hair behind my ears. I knew she was unconscious but I didn't know if she could hear me. "Um..." I was unsure of what to say, "Hi Lauren. I'm not sure if- um... if you can hear me or not but I'm here. I'm Topaz, if you couldn't recognize my voice..." I chuckled a bit, trying to hold back tears. I leaned over her small body and grabbed her fragile hands. I held on tight.

"Please wake up."

Beep.

Beep.

Beep.

"Lauren... Please... I need you." By then, there were tears rolling down my cheeks.

Nothing but the slow, steady beeping of the heart monitor; the one sound giving me faith right now.

"Well," I said sniffing and wiping away my tears, "I haven't had a nightmare for almost a week now!" I smiled a bit through my tears. "Maybe they're gone for good. What do you think?"

...

"I think so. I hope so at least. I-"

"Oh, sorry," the nurse walked in, "I'm so sorry but I'm going to have to ask you to leave for now. You're welcome back later."

I nodded. "Well, Lauren... I'll be back, if not tonight, then tomorrow. I'll see you later. Miss you."

I gathered my things and wiped the bottom of my eyes gently. I walked to the door and turned around to get once last glimpse of Lauren. Her pale face still looked beautiful. The nurse had move in front to block my view. I looked down and proceeded to leave.

I went home. I didn't even bother to remove my makeup. I just threw my hair up, got dressed into my most comfortable clothes and hopped into bed. I instantly fell asleep. It was black for awhile.

Until suddenly, I saw Her.
