Dallas drove down the lonely highway. Even though it was Saturday he still had to return to Anna Bay, a place he honestly didn't want to see ever again after the accident. The town had been founded by his great-grandfather Christopher. It was named after his wife, Anna, and he had a lot of ambition for the town. At least that's what Dallas's grandfather told him. When he was young, Dallas had loved the town. He loved the corny little street diner. He loved the diner's cheesecake.

He loved the school. The school with the big playground in the back and surprisingly good cafeteria food. He even enjoyed the high school but not as much as the elementary school. But high school wasn't all fun to him. To be honest, it was more of a nightmare after that special night in January. He remembered the roads being icy and covered with snow. One thing led to another and in only a matter of seconds, he found himself in a snow drench.

His arm was broken in three different places. His legs were surprisingly left unharmed aside from bruises here and there. Soon after that he became a sort of pariah. All of his friends that once flocked to him immediately suddenly didn't want anything to do with him. The girls at the school who would swoon over him would look at him in disgust. His teachers began hating him all because of a stupid little accident that he didn't even mean to happen. So, when he graduated from high school, he bolted and planned to never come back.

He had gotten a job in Los Angeles and was able to earn enough money to go to college. Even though he was only nineteen he knew how to work, and didn't mind doing it. He stayed in Los Angeles until a couple days after his twenty first birthday he had gotten a call from his mom.

He was sitting in the studio apartment his buddy had rented for him. He was laying on the couch when the phone rang. He answered it, and was greeted with the all to familiar voice.

"Dallas," She said. Even though he hadn't talked to her in a while, he still recognized her voice. It was the same voice that would comfort him when he was scared. "Your father wants you to come back. He misses you and he says he's sorry."

And that's how he came to being here. On this road, on this day. Even though he wasn't excited to see the town again, he would lying if he said he didn't miss his parents. When he first left he believed that his parents didn't love him because of the accident. But after a while, he began to miss them again. He looked down the road and had to fight back the urge to laugh out loud.

Standing on the side of the road was the town welcome sign. It had a cartoon sun on it wearing sunglasses. Anna Bay was painted in an exaggerated fashion. First time he ever saw that sign was when he was eight. His dad had showed it to him and he remembered falling on the ground laughing.

Dallas looked back as he passed the sign and chuckled once more. He turned back to the road, and his eyes widened. In the middle of the road was a person. The person was walking dressed in a black leather jacket with pink streaks. It was on a skateboard. Dallas halted to a stop and got out of his car.

He ran over to the person and grabbed them by the shoulder. "What the heck are you doing in the road?!" He yelled. The person turned, revealing them to be a girl. The girl was young, probably in her late teens or early twenties. She was black. Her hair had pink streaks in it and she had on a Nirvana shirt on her jacket.

Black headphones hung from her ears. She had a surprised and angry look on her face, "get off me!" She shouted. He let go of her shoulder. She tried to look for some good words until she began to lose her balance on her skateboard. The girl began to fall backwards until Dallas caught her again.

"What are you doing here?" He asked her. She made a face at him, "coming into the town. What else would I be doing." She started to inspect his face. "Wait a minute... I know you!"
