Chapter 1 -
It all began on March 6th, 2014. The times shifted, worlds turned. I was not prepared. I was walking to my second period math class, when Mckenzie ran up to me with her black, brown hair bouncing and starts to stop at my side. Mckenzie has always been my closest friend. We always hung out and did everything together.
"Hey! Reina! I really need to talk to you after class, that okay?" She yanked her book bag up to her back. Mckenzie looked out the hall window concerned.
"Sure, what is it about?" I said trying to detangle my hair. The window beside us streamed bright sunlight into my eyes, Mckenzie's brown skin glistened.
"Well-" Mckenzie was about to answer when the bell rang. "I'll just tell you at lunch." She smiled and waved then hurried off to her class.
"Alright." I said to myself turning around to start making my way to my class while a stream of kids came towards me. The once quiet hall filled with laughter and noise of feet stomping their way through. Kids bumped into me heading to their rooms. I heaved a heavy sigh getting ready to move forward but I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned seeing it was Ross, instant butterflies filled my stomach. "H- hey." I stuttered.
Ross smiled, running his hand though his red hair nervously. I had liked Ross for some time, but I knew that other girls who were prettier than me knew him better. I never thought a popular guy would want to talk to me. "Hey, uh, I was wondering if you would like to hang out some time..." I smiled wide. Ross stuffed his hands in his pants pockets. His light blue eyes looking at the floor.
"Oh, oh, yeah! Sure um, just text me later so we could make plans." In my head I screamed with joy.
Ross looked up excited. "Really? Great!" Amber came to his side, one of the popular girls, tilting her head at me grimacing.
"Ross, let's go." Amber flipped her red hair pulling on Ross to move, her icy cold eyes glared at me, looking me up and down with defiance.
Ross pressed a smile while getting pulled into the crowed. "See you later!" He called after, Amber yanking him away.
I clutched my books close to my chest and jumped happily. Most of the kids had gone to their destination so I decided it was best I hurred before I was late. I pushed my way through the crowd that was in front of the doorway untill I got to the door of my classroom and saw the nerds trying to look cool by fake punching each other just like they did everyday.
I sat my bag on the second to last desk and walked back to the front of the class to grab my calculator. More kids started filling in loudly taking their seats. I could still feel my face burning as I went back to my desk, the butterfly's still wanted to be free.
"Okay class, lets get started. Quite down guys! I'll take your lunch time!" Mr. Salmiller said flailing his arms trying to get our attention. Mr. Salmiller rubbed his bald head looking irritated.
After a few minuets he finally got everyone to be quiet. "Alright, now get your homework out from last night. We are going over it. There's a test on it that we are taking tomorrow so listen up!" Mr. Salmiller stood beside the smart board hands on his hips, lips pursed.
I took out the homework that I didn't do, and sat my head in my hand and tried to listen but couldn't feeling suddenly tired. I looked out of the side window, the winter's snow slowly melting in the sunlight.
"Okay, number one! Who wants to read this to us......" Mr. Salmiller started to fade out of my ears and my eyes started to close till I saw blackness.
I opened my eyes with a jolt, noticing that I was under water, struggling to breath, to get a single sip of air but I couldn't find my way up or down.
