Turn 'n Tender Bassonia

Mdu, Duke and I arrived at the cosy restaurant and were ready to get food into our system. I especially needed proper food in my system. We got a table and as the waitress was showing us to our table, I looked around the restaurant. It was very beautiful and well designed. Besides the obvious scattered tables around the spacious area, the view was spectacular.

We ordered our meals and Duke kept stealing sly glances at me. He was a very good-looking man with gorgeous manly chiseled features with light green eyes to match. He probably had the torso and legs of a body builder underneath all those clothes, which made me think he probably had the most beautiful girlfriend, or if not that, a whole harem of women. So I didn't understand why he would even look at me twice, unless he wanted me to be his next conquest.

You have got to admit that he's very handsome, Thandi said my subconscious. I rubbed my right ear on my shoulder to indicate to her to shut up. I was in a public space and I didn't need any kind of attention.

"You know I'm engaged to Themba... shut up", I whispered.

"What was that Bear?" asked my brother. I cleared my throat, shook my head and looked up.

"Nothing... nothing at all King", I said faking a smile.

"I could have sworn I heard you say you're engaged to Themba", he pressed and I smiled sheepishly.

"Please excuse me for a moment. I need to use the restroom", I said getting up.

"Are you sure you're okay, Thandeka?" asked Duke ever so kindly which would have normally made me feel warm inside, but I was feeling besides myself, so I just nodded and walked away.

Once in the bathroom, I screamed.

"DON'T YOU BLOODY KNOW... that I HATE IT... when you call me that. I am not 'Babe' or 'Thandi' to you, annoying head voice" I said. I opened my eyes only to be met by a red abyss. I had no idea where I was, but I felt everything...

I felt the beating of my heart... I could feel my blood flowing in my veins... I felt the pulsing of the muscles in my head at my pounding headache.

I heard a door opening, but my vision was still impaired.

"I was in the bathroom stall when I heard her screaming. I tried talking to her, but it was like I wasn't even here and she was having a conversation of her own", said a female voice I didn't recognise. "I saw her at your table earlier, so I thought I should rather get you to help her", she concluded. I felt the arms of my brother embrace me and slowly I came back to my surroundings.

"Bear, please listen to me... it's Mdu... please listen to my voice... Breathe for me okay...? Take a deep breath in through your nose and let it out slowly through your mouth", he begged with a suppressed urgency in his voice. I did as he requested and the more breaths I took, the clearer my vision became. The red faded to an orange hue, from the orange hue came a pale yellow and spots in my vision and finally, the colours were back to normal.

I looked up at Mdu and he looked worriedly at me. My head was still pounding intensely, so I shut my eyes tightly hoping to ward off the pain.

"My head hurts King", I whispered. My vision blurred a little and I staggered when I tried to stand up straighter. I felt a hot liquid ooze out of my nose.
