I walked into the diner with a smirk on my face. I grabbed a mug and walked up to the counter.
"Luke, please, please. Please."
"how many cups have you had today?" He questioned me.
"none." lies
"plus?" He smirked at me.
"five. but yours is better." he shook his head, and filled the cup.
"I miss the time before you drank coffee." he sighed. I laughed and sat at my table. A guy came over to my table.
"you make that look really good." I rolled my eyes.
"well it is the best in town." I smiled.
"mind if I sit." I hooked my ankle around the chair.
"I'm meeting someone, sorry."
"well I'll be over here if you change your mind." he shot me a smile.
"I'll join you." I said flatly.
"what?"
"just messing with your mind." he walked away. Kaleb walked in.
"Hey sweetie."
"I need lip gloss." she said as she took off her heavy over coat.
"I have cotton candy, honey, vanilla, sprite, and waffles." I pull out one bag of makeup.
"how about something that won't make me want ice cream?" She laughed.
"okay grape, strawberry, banana, or berry blitz explosion." I pulled out another bag.
"no one needs that much makeup."
"Hey, you explain your seventeen eye shadow palettes. I'll explain mine." she shook her head, and laughed.
"coffee." she nodded. I picked up a mug and went back to the counter
"You have no shame." he shook his head.
"it's for Kaleb." I turned around. that guy was back at my table. flirting with Kaleb. I put my arms around her.
"I see you've met my daughter."
"daughter?" He gives me a freaked out look.
"are you my new daddy." she laughs.
"I'm sorry, you don't look old enough to be a mom. and you definitely don't look like a daughter." he stuttered
"well I am traveling with a friend?" He turned to his friend.
"she's sixteen."
"goodbye." they walked out the door.

I walked into the kitchen where my best friend wrapped her hand up.
"Uh oh, what now?"
"I burned my hand. But it's okay." she winced as I tightened it.
"Tay, you need to be careful."
"I know, i know. I was making creme brulee. And it got out of hand."
"Fancy, what's the occasion." I said pouring myself some coffee.
"The girls got their letters, I was waiting for you to open them." she handed me a letter from the best performing arts school in California. LAC high school for the performing arts. Kaleb sings, she takes after me. And Hallie her best friend dances. They've always dreamed about going here so they could get into Juliard together.
"Oh my." we opened them at the same time.
"Dear Halina James we are pleased to inform you." she squealed. I opened Kaleb's.
"Dear Kaleb Sumerall we are pleased to inform you." I squealed and jumped up and down with Taylor. The girls walked in and gave us confused looks. I tossed the envelope to Kaleb and continued jumping up and down. Taylor did the same. they read them over and squealed.
"we did it? they actually liked our auditions?" I nodded, and tightly squeezed my beautiful daughter. We celebrated. As soon as we walked in the door she asked the question I was fearing.
"mom how are you gonna afford this, I mean I know we have money to live off of from Dad. And any money you have saved I want to go towards opening your inn." I sighed.
"honey, I have it all figured out." I kissed her forehead.
"mom you already get me anything i want, and then some. it's really okay if I don't go." I cut her off.
"this is your and Hallies dream to go together. I got to live out my dreams, why shouldn't you?" She smiled and ran up to her room. she stopped at the top of the stairs.
"I love you mom."
"I love you kid." she smiled and went to her room. I heard her on the phone with Hallie.
