The early winter air chilled everyone in the two story in the house to the bone. Little girls of ranging ages were crowded, cuddled up with their mother under multiple blankets and sheets on the small sofa in the plainly decorated living room. Anne, the mother of a child in the house, was sat alone on a recliner, desperately trying to retain any body heat she could.
Anne's gaze fell to the two teenage boys on the old, worn love seat. The curly haired, green-eyed boy stared down at the feather-haired boy asleep in his arms. The two boys' bodies molded together perfectly. It's as if they were statue created by a world renowned artist. It was almost unbelievable that the boys have only been dating for a year, Anne thought, the corners of her lips twitching up to form a fond smile as she admired the two boys.
Harry, the curly haired, green-eyed boy, glanced up at his mother, eyes soft and innocent as he held his love. Everyone in the house was asleep but the two. "Mum, stop staring," Harry muttered quietly, a light pink tinging his pale cheeks. Anne rolled her eyes at her only son, staring down at the black liquid inside of the hand painted ceramic mug she cradled in her hands. She thought back to when her and Johanna Tomlinson had met on that first day of grade 10 so long ago.
It was early morning on a chilly day in late August. Students piled through the large doors of the school, little groups of people finding friends and chattering away in the heated hallways before the first bell of the school year. Anne looked around nervously, trying not to make eye contact with anyone before walking into the hall and attempting to find her first period class.
Anne Cox was new to Doncaster as her father picked up and moved the family for a job offer in the middle of summer vacation. The brunette bombshell wondered the halls, her high ponytail bobbing behind her as she attempting to add a pep to her step. She finally found room 11, and quietly snuck in, not wanting to draw any extra attention to herself. She slid into her wooden desk in the back of the room, deciding not to sit right in front of the pungent smelling teacher in the front of the room.
Anne's movement were small and quiet as she unloaded her supplies onto her desk and doodled on a notepad as she waited for class to start. Just as the late bell rang, another brown-haired girl rushed into the classroom, taking the only available spot next to Anne. The mystery girl quickly unloaded her things and turned to Anne, a bright smile on her face. "Hi, I'm Johanna, but you can call me Jay," she said joyously, holding her hand out for Anne to shake. A smile spread across the new student's face as she took Johanna's hand, shaking lightly.
"I'm Anne, Anne Cox. Just moved here from Cheshire. Pleasure to meet you." Anne wondered if she had been too formal, but she brushed it off because Jay was still grinning at her.
"Nice to meet you, Anne. I have a feeling we'll be great friends."
Anne snapped out of her haze when she heard a loud snore escape her son's lips, his boyfriend, Louis, stirring only slightly at the loud noise. She looked around the room at the six other bodies and remembered how they all ended up in this situation years ago. It's quite a simple story, really.
After attending University with Johanna in Doncaster, Anne moved back to Holmes Chapel in Cheshire and married a man named Des Styles. Des and Anne welcomed a beautiful baby girl named Gemma, and three years later, their little Harry was born. Ten years after Gemma was born, the couple filed for a divorce. Just three months after the divorce, a harsh storm hit Wales and surrounding territories, including Cheshire. The Styles' family home was destroyed in the storm, and with little money, Anne called up her old friend Jay Tomlinson.
Jay and Anne came to an agreement that they would both sell their properties and take the money to buy a large family home that both families would be comfortable in until the kids went off to university. So, the two families moved to a large two story home in Doncaster with their children. There were four children in the house at this time; Harry, 7, Louis, 7, Gemma, 10, and Charlotte(Lottie) who was just a few weeks old. It is currently the year 2014, and there are now six minors in the household. Harry and Louis are both seventeen, Lottie is ten, Felicite(Fizzy) is eight, and the twins, Daisy and Phoebe, who are four. Sure, it's crowded and they're living on limited income, but the eight wouldn't have it any other way. Yes, Harry and Louis are somewhat embarrassed that their families live on welfare and food stamps, but they don't care as long as they have each other.
You're probably wondering about the two lovebirds, aren't you? Well, Harry and Louis got together a few months before Louis' seventeenth birthday. They have shared a room since the time they were seven. When Harry was fourteen, he knew that he was gay. He didn't come out to anyone for a year for the fear of being judged was too much for the young teen to handle. After a year, he finally told Anne, Jay, Gemma and Louis. Jay and Anne took it very well, as for Louis.. Well, he took it a little rough. Okay, a lot rough. For months Louis avoided Harry, slept on the couch, and called him a queer. It was only after he got his first girlfriend that he realized he was really not attracted to girls at all, and so, he and Harry kissed and experimented with each other, if you catch my drift.
As soon as things happened with Harry, Louis came out, and Louis and Harry started dating. Harry and Louis had had a special bond ever since they first met. They dated for about two months before finally telling everyone about -what their friends referred to as- Larry. The boys have been together for a little over a year now, and everything is going great. Louis is a star footballer at the school the boys attend and Harry is most likely going to graduate towards the top of his class. Both boys are in their final years of grade school and are applying for universities.
Everything seems to be going quite well for the family. Maybe too well...
