Pain.

All I could feel at the time was pain.

The pain of losing him.

The pain of losing her.

The pain of losing all of them.

Because of one. Stupid. Mistake.

Jisoo woke up with a start, the image of her parents still in her mind as she woke up. Sweat trickled down her forehead and she was panting hard. Realizing that everything was just a dream, she wiped her brow and calmed herself down. With a sigh, she looked at her clock.

'4 am,' she thought to herself. 'I'm probably not getting any more sleep, so might as well go for a run and get ready for school.'

She got out of her bed and put on her running attire: a tank top, a light sweatshirt, shorts, and her new pair of adidas shoes. As she laced up and started to stretch, her Samoyed puppy, Mochi (pictured below), waddled towards her with his leash in his mouth. Unable to resist, Jisoo ruffled her adorable dog and took the leash from his mouth. As she was leaving, Jisoo noticed her kitten, Hope, eyeing her from her place on the couch near the front door. After scratching Hope's chin, she quietly opened the door and went out into the open night.

After her accident, Jisoo moved from the states to live with her aunt in Korea. Both of her parents were Korean, and she was born there, but they moved to the US after her father was offered an amazing job. She was taught the mannerisms and history of Korean culture, and often struggled to balance her Korean and American sides at school. It was hard on her, but she made it out alive and stronger than ever. After the accident, she requested to come back to her home country, as staying in the US was much too painful.

Jisoo started to jog, Mochi by her side. She had received Mochi and Hope as gifts from her best friend Yoonji, who took in and raised abandoned pets with her parents. When giving Jisoo the baby animals, Yoonji had said, "we found them abandoned near a drain pipe and huddled together. I think you should have them, not only because you need something to rely on, but I also think that you want to be relied on, too." Yoonji always had the knack of knowing exactly what Jisoo wanted, which made it so much harder for her to move away to Korea. Her aunt, Mina, was fond of animals, and let Jisoo keep her animals as long as they didn't cause trouble.

It was cold in the morning, but Jisoo didn't mind. She enjoyed the refreshing chill of the early morning, as it woke her up and never failed to remind her that her new future is ahead of her. It was her first time running in her new neighborhood, and she loved it. The air was much fresher than the rest of the city, and she had an amazing view of the city below, as her trail was on a hill that overlooked Seoul. She was entranced by the beauty of the bustling city. Her thoughts trailed off back to her parents, and what life they could have lived had they survived.
