ORIENTEERING: The sport of finding one's way in a wilderness with only map and compass..
The notice read: wanted 10 men and 10 women to join an orienteering three day adventure,
Twenty cars showed up and each was given a number. Black for men and red for women. This paired couples who were strangers to each other for the three day trek.
Thus, Carol and Jeff met. Each couple was taken blindfolded to a different starting point and left there.
After hiking for seven hours,
Jeff stopped along the trail they were walking, turned around, looked at Carol, and said, "We're lost."
Carol said, " I figured we are. What should we do?"
They checked their maps and found that they have been altered so that the terrain did not correspond to the maps.
They sat for a while and talked about what to do. Both of them were very experienced backwoods hikers. And Carol is an accomplished mounstineer. While Jeff is an instructor in a survivalist school. They had no fear about making it back to their cars or even to the Rondview point at the end of the orienteering excersize. But first they had to figure where they were.
