At dawn, Reeve let his inner tiger free, hoping to feel less anxious since his animal was on edge. His inner animal was lofty; it could have been happy spending his whole day in a box, chasing an unsuspecting prey. He had very straightforward priorities, protecting the pride and playing.
But today, the same tiger wasn't interested in a run, or a a game of hide and seek. It wanted to be on his way to the woman's territory. So Reeve shifted into his fierce tiger and departed at full speed to his pride.
Reeve still wasn't in the best mood when he finally reached the clearing where they were all going to meet. Since Reeve is an alpha, he was faster than almost everyone in his pride. So when he arrived earlier than most of his pride members, his protective instincts kicked in. He really didn't want to be separated from the most vulnerable members of his pride.
Reeve got Conner to fly with Theo, Kay, and the seven kids that were adopted into their pride; even though Nova would throw a fit upon being called a kid. Ever since Nova turned thirteen, she had matured rapidly. Reeve could swear that her painted lips and mile-high heels were turning his hair grey. There he stood, a thirty year old looking like a seventy year old, with his shoulders weighed heavily by millions of duties that come with his title in the pride.
Reeve was glad that his father had let them use his jet; it ensured that the wolves wouldn't be able to track them. But the rest of them weren't trying to be discreet. Claris, the only submissive in the pack, was currently traveling on the back of his bike with Dante and Ivan on their own motorcycles riding on both sides of him. Reeve had ran until his paws hurt. By the time he had rested and filled his belly, the rest of the pride warriors had caught up to him and he had decided to ride his motorcycle. Jaxi was driving our big SUV behind the three motorcycles that contained all of their precious belongings.
Reeve would have been happier if they had taken a detour and tried to throw anyone following off their trail, but Dante insisted that it was important to arrive before the kids arrived in the jet and taking a detour would just leave them more vulnerable.
"Calm Down, dude," Dante told him when they made a pit stop.
"We'll pay her off if she won't let us stay after She sees all these gifts." Reeve glanced at the SUV that was currently being filled by gas. The Beta had somehow gone out and gotten the woman huge boxes that were wrapped and topped with bows.
His Beta was right; his pride was not big or the oldest, but they had enough money to buy ten mansions.
Reeve's grandparents had given him a lot of money when he'd created his own pride, and he'd invested it wisely. Besides, his pride mostly kept to themselves, shutting out the rest of the shifter world, minding their own business.
Claris ran her own online business where she sold hats, scarves, jackets, and other accessories. Conner was a computer genius that used his talents as a PI. Jaxi was involved with a travel blog, Ivan invested in small businesses, and Theo was an author. Even though Reeve never asked any of the pride members to contribute towards the pride, all of the warriors still shared some of their profits by putting their shares in the pride's savings account. When he last looked at the amount of money in their account, he noticed there were more zeros than he could remember.
No loner female was going to be able to turn down that kind of bribe.
But, to his amazement, Dante snorted and replied, "Trust me dude, no amount of money or gifts is gonna stop her from kicking our asses if she doesn't want us to be on her territory."
"Then why the gifts?" Reeve asked with an eyebrow raised.
Dante didn't elaborate. He just shrugged his big shoulders and looked away.
