Tricia looked over to find Ethan visibly tense up in his seat. He was staring angrily at his phone, and his thumbs were firing away at the keys.
She leaned her head on his shoulder. "You okay, baby?"
Ethan turned his head to kiss her forehead. "Yeah. I'm sorry. I'm letting one of these thirsty Instagram dudes get to me. I'm doing exactly what I tell you not to do," he laughed a little.
Tricia's phone buzzed in her pocket, and she looked down to see the notification. She had to do a double take, because she wasn't sure she was reading it right.
"Comment from @ekat19: @user01 fuck u dude...I love the fuck outta @trishmalone"
Did he...did he say "love"? Tricia blushed and looked back over at Ethan, who was watching the game again. She grinned and leaned in to kiss his cheek.
Ethan smiled and turned his head to kiss her back. He reached up to stroke her cheek as they got into it. After a moment, they heard a huge cheer, and looked at the court to see what had happened.
"Dude, up there!" the guy next to Ethan smiled, pointing at the Jumbotron.
Ethan and Tricia looked up to see themselves on the KissCam. He grinned, and she started laughing as her cheeks turned red. Ethan leaned back in and kissed her again, to more cheers from the crowd.
"I hope your fans see this," Tricia murmured against his lips with a giggle.
"I hope your fans do," Ethan grinned.
Tricia leaned back a little, her eyes staring into his. "Did you mean what you wrote?"
Ethan's grin faded, and he looked like he'd been caught red-handed. "That I love you?"
Tricia nodded, biting her lip nervously.
Ethan reached over and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Of course I did. I do."
"You what?" she asked softly. She needed to hear it for real.
"I love you, Tricia," Ethan said earnestly.
Tricia couldn't contain her smile. "I love you, too, Ethan."
He leaned in and kissed her again, and both of them suddenly wished they weren't in such a public place.
"Maybe we should leave a little early?" Ethan suggested. "Beat some of the traffic?"
Tricia grinned and nodded. She hadn't been able to focus on the game at all since reading that comment. She was eager to go somewhere where the two of them could show each other how they felt.
