Mermaid Melodies

ch. 4

I heard the doors open and boots shuffled through. arms wrapped around me and I found myself holding onto Natasha with everything I had. my shoulders moved with every cry. the music almost muffled it. Natasha stroked my hair and hugged me to her. "its okay.."  I looked up at her tears streaming down my face. "I didnt bring Clint home... its not okay." I shook my head and closed my eyes letting my head drop. "I know.. I miss him too. we'll see him again. don't worry." I nodded at her, half not believing. "lets go get cleaned up in your room alright?" I nodded as she helped me up and gently nudged me to the door. I turned around as she turned off the boombox and she followed after me. she draped her arm around my shoulders and i dropped my head to hide the evidence of ever crying. she walked confidently. her steps even and strides long. I turned down the hall my room is in and i walked in silently. I sat on my bed and she closed the door locking it. She sat next to me. "we will bring him home. I promise Cee." I looked at her then down at the ground. "I don't think I'm cut out for this stuff anymore." I got up and unlocked the door, walking out silently. I heard her run after me. "what is that supposed to mean?" she yelled as she grabbed my arm forcefully. "it means I'm done." I yanked my arm out of her grasp and walked away leaving her there.

I eventually got up onto the skydeck and noticed that we were up above towers and buildings. I sat on the edge and pulled my knees to my chest. I looked out among the buildings seeing specks moving around. We were so high up. I turned and got up walking back inside. The door opened and I saw Clint and a bunch of other people I had never seen before trying to bust down doors. "Clint!" I yelled running for him. "Cerulean do not engage Clint! He is still compromised!" I stopped abruptly, he turned toward me and fired off an arrow. it exploded in the air and flung plaster over me sticking me to the wall. I couldnt move whatsoever. "Clint! Please... Snap out of it!!" he stared me down. The plaster started almost burning my skin. I felt it stinging my neck and arms. Anywhere that wasn't covered in my suit burned. I yelled out and struggled to free myself. He turned and left with the other men. "Natasha! Natasha!! Somebody help me!! Please!?!!" I yelled out again. "Cerulean! Hang on!" I heard her yelling and running footsteps down the hall. I bit my lip and struggled more. She turned the corner tight and saw me. "oh my gosh!" she ran at me and started pulling at the plaster. I pushed my arms as much as I could and she pulled. The plaster tore off and I fell to the ground. She was careful not to touch my arms and I looked up to see red blotches all over them. "I am so going to kill him." I looked up at her. She stood straight and had an obviously ticked off face on. Something made a loud metal on metal sound and both of us almost fell over if not for grabbing onto the rafters. She looked at me. "find Steve and Stark. I'll take care of Clint." I nodded and swung my body to lurch forward into the ducts. 

the ducts were cool, a nice change from my burning arms. I heard fighting below me and i kicked out a vent opening.i dropped through to see several men shooting at Steve. he deflected a few bullets with his shield but not all of them. the men were right in front of me and i ran up behind them using a pressure point in their necks to temporarily paralyze them. i saw Steve jump towards a red lever. "What are you waiting for Cap! Pull the lever!" I heard Tony yell through the comm unit. steve was hanging off the edge of the helicarrier and i raised both hands to create an aquaboard underneath his feet to raise him up easier. He pulled it and Tony came crashing out and his suit was dinged up pretty bad. His mask slid up over his face and I looked at both him and Steve. "I saw Clint and these jerks breaking in earlier." I nudged one of them with the toe of my black boots. "Nat went after Clint." "hulk is on the loose as well I'm afraid." Steve looked down thoughtfully. "I haven't seen Thor for a while. Last time I checked he was taking loki down to the holding cell." I nodded at Tony. I looked down to the men I had paralysed. "im going to go see if I can find anymore of these guys snooping around the hellicarrier. If I run into trouble I'll contact you through the comm." I turned away. "And Steve? Could you do me a favor?" I looked at him. "you took out these guys so I could help Tony,  not to mention helped me get to that lever. Anything you need miss." I looked at him seriously. "if you see Natasha and Clint.. Could you make sure she doesn't kill him?" he raised an eyebrow. "what did Clint do to make you worry that she'd kill him?" I looked at Tony then to Steve, turning and walking away. "he shot me." I turned and ran off. "I'll see what I can do!"
