He stood there, in the corner of the dance studio, behind the others. His eyes were fixated on them. On her, his girlfriend. On her, dancing with him.
He knew it was just dancing, interpreting the song – the better the artist, the better the art –but the way they moved together, those little touches, how Ricky looked at Ava when her back was turned to him, there was something about it that made him feel a pang of jealousy.
Lucas bit down on his straw, gaze intense. Oh they made it believable, that's for sure. And not only that, but they looked so dang good together too! An outsider might've thought they were a couple.
She wasn't a professional dancer, but she had the moves. And while she wasn't dressed in a sexy outfit –more like gray sweatpants with light green top – she'd never looked sexier than she did right now.
'So touch me, baby, do it. And make me forget, that my heart belongs to him', she looked at him straight in the eye, and his heart skipped a beat. For a second it felt like they were the only people in the room, before Ricky's hands were on her again, touching her, and she was back in the song.
Micah touched his arm, as if to ask if he was alright. He had a worried look on his face, no doubt sensing his jealousy. All Lucas could manage was a small nod, avoiding Micah's eyes.
She was so sexy, so enticing. Her long, dirty blonde hair loose. Her blue eyes lost in the story.
It was as if the entire room had held their breath, and as soon as the dance ended, they all gasped for air. Hannah jumped up, embracing Ava excitedly. "Oh em gee, girlie! You were ah-ma-zing!", she gushed. Few of the guys joined in with the praises. Kevin and Nick were talking with Ricky, Kevin explaining to him how he was almost turned on by watching them dance, "that's how good you two are!", he exclaimed. Lucas felt glued to the spot he'd been standing on. What he really wanted to do, was to go over to her, pull her into a empty room and... And he didn't know what then. But he couldn't move, as if the floor had trapped his feet. He just stared at her, still surrounded by everyone, and rightfully so.
"It was just dancing, you know that," Micah said next to him matter-of-factually, "the jealousy you feel right now isn't real, it's made up. Shake it out, bro." Lucas let out a sigh. He knew Micah was right. Of course he was. But it was so incredibly hard to control your feelings. Because she really was such an incredible person, sometimes he wondered how he'd gotten so lucky.
He was pulled out of his thoughts by a warm hand on his arm. "You look so lost in your thoughts right now", she said softly, smiling. She watched him intensely, trying to read him, but it was of no use.
Lucas smiled warmly back at her, "you really were amazing". She knew there was more to it, but chose not to press him about it. At least not right now.
