(Jane is my OC)

It's the Ten Duel Commandments!

Jane woke up, arising from her bed with a groan; it was early morning, the sun hadn't even risen yet. She stretched as she let out a sigh of relief, taking one last good look around the quiet room. The walls were an off-white color, a desk was set in front of her bed; she groggily made her way to the desk and re-read the note she had written before she had gone to sleep whilst remembering the events of yesterday.

Number one! The challenge, demand satisfaction if they apologize, no need for further action!

Samuel Seabury, yes him! Samuel had diminished her friends during a public speaking yesterday just because they were for the revolution and wanted freedom, she did not let that slide! Her and Samuel got in a dispute which led to him challenging her to a duel.

She sighed as she got dressed in a pair of kinda tan pants, a white blouse, and blue jacket; she wasn't the average girl; since her parents died while she was young she raised herself. She wasn't gonna depend on a man to keep her safe and do the work while she laid back and did nothing. Slipping on her black knee high boots she walked outside, note in hand ready to head to the dueling grounds.

Number two! If they don't, grab a friend, that's your second!

Her bright, tired green eyes scanned the area; she caught a glimpse of her friend John Laurens making his way over to her. That was her second.

Number three! Have your seconds meet face to face. Negotiate a peace....Or negotiate a time and place.

John had tried to reason with both Samuel and Jane yesterday, but both were too caught in the moment of fury and rage that they didn't listen, so John offered to be her second to see if he could try talking things out again today if not he would at least be there to support her. Jane gave her friend a small smile, he returned the gesture and joined her; both remained silent as they approached the duling grounds not too far outside of town.

Upon arriving, Jane took a look at the terrain as she pulled her long silky brown hair into a ponytail.

Number four! If they don't reach a peace, that's alright. Time to get some pistols and a doctor on sight.

Her eyes scanned the terrain oh so carefully, her gaze was adverted as she saw Aaron Burr paying a doctor in advance...Why would Sam choose him as a second?! John sighed seeing this knowing he may not have been able to talk things out after all.

"You sure you wanna do this?" John asked the younger girl in front of him, Jane said nothing and only nodded in response as she walked over to the small group; John following close behind.

Number five! Duel before the sun is in the sky!

It was still kinda dark out, the night sky had lightened up slightly though. She caught a glimpse of Samuel out the corner of her eye, he had determination in his eyes....

"Hello, Samuel.." She said bitterly to the older male.

"let's skip the formalities and get this over with," Samuel replied taking notice in her tone of voice.

Number six! Leave a note for your next of kin. Tell em where you been. Pray that hell or heaven lets you in...

Seven! Confess your sins...ready for the moment of adrenaline when you finally face your opponent.

Jane scowled at the male and made her way back to John, handing him the letter she had written; despite the fact she had no family she did have one friend that was very dear to her....Thomas Jefferson...He had been her friend since they were young.
