(I swear I could cry, just how you guys like this story and actually comment on it is insane and I am just lost for words oh my god- *Internet hugs for all!*)
"Jesus she's gonna be here any minute!" Zak exclaims as he rockets down the stairs while doing one more look over before making himself appear as presentable as he can. "Ok, kitchen? Check. Living room? Done. Floors? Clean. Doors locked?..." He soon trails off, unsure, "Maybe?" Zak then quickly backtracks to check for certain that specific ones are locked good and tight.
After that's done he nods then floats back to do a few final touch ups. Once he knows that all is just right he gives himself a mental pat on the back. Everything is perfect. "Ah yes, wouldn't want her to see all the skeletons in your numerous closets right Zak?"
Well. Almost perfect.
"No. No no no, I don't have the time or the patience for any of you right now. You need to go!" God's sake, out of all the times they decide to not leave him alone- it's now? He grimaces as five black smokey figures appear before him. Piercing white eyes blazing with evil mischief, "Aww come on Zakky don't be like that, we promise we'll stay out of the way." One says while throwing an arm around Zak's shoulders as if they were simply old friends catching up. He scoffs and throws the phantom arm off of him, not in the mood for their mockery, "Yeah I've heard that before..." He grumbles, the red of his eyes shimmering with the steadily growing anger.
"Really we promise this time, and who knows maybe we can help." If he wasn't so enraged right now he would laugh, but the one that escapes him is anything but nice. "Oh I'm sure you'd just LOVE to help me wouldn't you?" He snarls as he drags his claws across the mantle of the fireplace, trying to keep some of the anger at bay before he completely flips that raging switch.
He manages to refrain then slowly sighs before firmly speaking, "If you want to help so bad then you can spend the day in the east part of the house on the very top floor since I never showed her there."
"Oh no, not this time Zak." The figure says as another floats around him with ease, brushing up against him every so often as if they were trying their damn hardest to set him off. "We want to see her-" "You saw her already, I know you did." "Yes but we want a better look." Suddenly he feels cold arms wrap around his neck while a voice whispers to him, "She's a very pretty girl..." Another floats over to his other ear. "Would hate to see something happen to her..."
That was the final straw. He lets out a demonic screech before whirling around to face them, "SWEAR TO GOD YOU LAY ONE FINGER ON HER!" He roars, "Temper Zak. Temper." One entity cooes, "Honestly you've always had such trouble with that temper."
They may not have mouths but he can clearly hear the amusement in their voices, so picturing all five of them just staring at him with annoying smirks comes naturally. "Indeed, act like that and you'll be the one sending her away." Zak snarls, teeth bared and fists clenching so hard he feels his claws digging into his palms.
Before he can snap at any of them however, one floats up to the 'leader' of their group. "She's coming? Wonderful." And just like that they disappear.
All except one, that slowly floats over before stopping in front of him. Zak lets out a small sigh and reverts back to a more calm state before holding out his hand, allowing it to land on his slightly bleeding palm. He then brings it closer to him and gently cradles it.
Of all the things to be forced away into this house with- neutral ghosts, that simply wonder by to look around before taking off again, and evil spirits, that always manage to make every day a living hell for him.
