" Alright class, tonight for your homework, I want you guys to log into the class website and fill out the questionnaire... I'll be talking about the answers tomorrow ", Mr.Romero explained. Finally the last bell rang and I hurriedly put my binder in my bag and walked out of class towards my car.
This was my last year of high school and there was only a couple of weeks left. Everyone was getting ready for graduation and 'Senior Night' ,a night dedicated to only seniors.
" Ericka!" ,a deep voice yelled my name.
I turned around to see my best friend running behind me.
" Hey Zach, what's up ?"
" Can I get a ride home?" He asked out of breath.
"Yeah.. but what happened to your car?" I asked genuinely curious.
"I got grounded."
Oh. He was always pretty much grounded.
"That sucks, come on then."
We walked to my car talking about the rest of our lives. I started the car and he automatically started switching the radio stations. He did this the whole way to his house. Once I got home, I grabbed a bag of hot Cheetos and made my way upstairs. I opened my bedroom door and flopped on my bed ignoring the disaster in my room. I seriously needed to clean it up before my mom got home. Luckily for me she worked late.
I searched for my Mac under some dirty clothes and powered it on. I immediately checked Facebook. Nothing. People didn't really go on it anymore. While I was scrolling down my feed I noticed a little white bird with a blue background. Twitter. I had heard of it for a while, it just looked too confusing though. Curiosity got the best of me and I clicked the logo. It led me to the home screen, showing the login page. I contemplated making one and finally decided on it, just because I was bored. I made an account and it gave me suggestions on who to follow. After following about fifteen famous people, I had to set a profile picture of course.
I brushed my unruly dark curly hair and smiled with my teeth showing proudly, I had recently got my braces off and I couldn't be any more happy with the outcome. The shutter clicked and I posted the picture. I examined the photo and I really liked it. My light brown eyes stood out and my two dimples really showed. Feeling pleased with the outcome I decided to browse for people at school. After about five minutes I had gained 90 followers. I opened a new tab and started on my homework. I filled out the questions and was about to close my laptop when it sounded a notification. Twitter. I opened the tab and saw a tiny number one in the message tab. I tapped it with the mouse and read who it was from.
@CaillouMan
Hey, you're ugly.
Wait. What? Baffled I read the message over and over again. Seriously? I didn't reply. I just closed my laptop and began cleaning my room out of anger. I'm not one to be sensitive but this guy kinda set me off. Once my room was clean, I downloaded Twitter onto my iPhone. I put my phone on the charger and went downstairs. Just as I reached the last step the door swung open and my mom and older brother walked in. Both were carrying large amounts of groceries. My brother was back from college, it finally hit me and I raced toward him, tackling him in a bear hug. I missed him so much.
" Kory, I missed you so much!" I nearly screamed in his ear.
" I missed you too Rikki" , he shouted as well. Rikki was what everyone in my family called me.
" Oh hey mom", I had forgotten about her in those last few minutes, and she was already almost done putting away the groceries. I gave her a swift hug and walked over to the refrigerator and stared in it for a few minutes, before it was slammed in my face.
