Chapter 5: The Eldest Prince"My name is Kim Seokjin" he said and I finally let out a little 'ahh'.
"So... uh... your highnes-" I was cut off with a cute chuckle.
"Please just call me Seokjin" he said and gave me a pouty smile as I returned my own smile.
"Well... Seokjin. Why did you call me here?" I asked as he sighed.
"Come in" he said and stepped to the side to give me some space to go in. I walked inside and gasped quietly at the spacious study room.
"Please take a seat" he said as he stood behind a chair I'm going to be seating in. I sat on tge chair as he helped me push it. Once he is done with his gentleman actions, he sat right across the circular table with a chess board in the middle.
"Well, I called you here because my father told me to speak to 'the unique girl with beautiful eyes' and the first girl I thought of was you" he said and moved a white piece as I felt a bit flustered for a moment I mean, who wouldn't? The king of South Korea complimented this girl who has 'beautiful eyes' and the heir thought of me because that short description.
"I see. What do you want to talk about then?" I asked and moved a black knight.
"Well, I'm a pretty awkward person so I don't really know. Do you want to know anything?" He asked as we continued playing the game.
"Hm... is it necessary to do this... contest?" I asked as he sighed.
"Not really. My father just wants to get me the perfect girl and the only way to do that is to get girls from all over Seoul" he said as I furrowed my eyebrows.
"But... I'm not from here" I said as he raised an eyebrow and looked at me.
"What do you mean?" He asked as I let out a sad sigh.
"I am from Britain. Even though I'm half Korean, I've never really been to any parts of Korea before so... I'm pretty much a stranger in these parts. I don't know the culture, I don't know what you eat, I don't know your tastes, your types, everything. I only know one thing and that is your language" I said and he gave me this warm pouty smile.
"I guess your parents are really desperate huh?" He asked and I nodded with a slight nod.
"They are. I don't know why though. They are living the good life" I said as he slowly moved a piece.
"What about you? Are you livig a good life?" He asked me as I stayed silent for a bit. He remained patient and waited for an answer.
"Well... I am... I think" I said ad he sighed and rested his head on his hand that is resting on the table.
"Tell me. What do you desire? The crown, the wealth... or me?" He asked with an unreadable expression as I looked up at him them down at the chessboard.
"I don't know to be honest and I don't think I'll be able to choose. I desire nothing but a home to live in with the people who cares about me and loves me. That doesn't include my parents. They forced me into this stupid contest that I know nothing about except a fight of 50 girls over 1 guy who I know nothing about. Call me stupid for not knowing anything but that's just me" I said and he nodded.
"Alright. If you desire nothing more than a home to live in with the people you love and care about, I promise to give you that... IF you lose this contest" he said and I sighed once again.
"What will you do once you get a queen anyways?" I asked as he smirked. He moved his knight to my queen's place and grabbed my queen.
"Easy. I'll keep her and mark her as mine. Forever" he said as he held my queen up and held it in his palm. His dark blue eyes staring into my own amber ones. Are they contact lenses aswell? I'll just say they are.
"Oh. And that's checkmate by the way" he said as I stayed silent with a red face. Keep her? Mark her? What does that mean?
"Come. I'll show you around the castle. We'll return to the dining room at lunch" he said and stood up from his seat as he held my hand, making me stand up aswell.
"Let's go now, shall we?"
~♡~♡~♡~
"So this is the garden" he said as the guards on both sides of the glass door opened it wide for the both of us to enter. My eyes widened as I stood there in shock. Infront of me is a large field with a bird fountain, a fountain-fountain, a large house like structure that is purely white and it was just breathtaking. What caught my attention was infront of us, maybe a few kilometers away, there are very tall hedges with different varieties of flowers. 7 to be exact. It's so... interesting.
"T-this... this entire land is JUST the garden?" I asked as he laughed quietly.
"Well, it's big but it also has a reason as to why it is big. Anyways, this is where I spend most of my time in other than my study room" he said as I nodded. I then sat one of those garden chairs and he sat across me.
"What do you do here most of the time?" I asked with a smile as a beautiful jōbitaki landed on my shoulder.
"Stuff" he said and smiled at the thought as I held the jōbitaki carefully in my hands.
"Would you mind sharing it to me another time? You know... what you usually do here?" I asked as his smile widened.
"Of course" he said as we both stood up.
"Let's go. Lunch time is starting" he said, grabbed my wrist gently and pulled me back inside. Damn. I'll miss the fresh air outside. All I can smell is rich perfumes... rich kids damn it.
"Is that so?" Seokjin asked as my eyebrows curved.
"Pardon?" I asked him. (Jungkook and Namjoon: PARD'N)
"You said the castle smells like it has been perfumed everywhere and it's suffocating you" he said with a slight smile.
"Did I say that outloud?" I said as my face gradually turned red.
"It's okay. I feel the same way" he said as I looked at him. I was about to ask him 'how?' but we arrived at the dining table. He patted my shoulder and smiled at me once again.
"It was very nice meeting you" he said and bowed. I bowed back as we both went to our seats to eat. I can feel the glares of the other girls but I just shrugged it off.
"Wow, Issa. You're so lucky" Peri whispered as I shrugged once again.
"We didn't really do anything to be honest. We just talked and he's a pretty nice guy" I whispered back as she nodded.
"Isn't he handsome though?" She asked as I looked back at Seokjin. I'm going to lie if I said he doesn't look handsome.
"Yeah. Sure" I said, unfazed by his looks. I want the personality out of a guy. Not his wealth or looks.
"Peri... if you did come here by choice, would you come here for the prince, the crown or the wealth?" I asked Peri quietly as she sighed.
"To be honest, if I had a choice, I would come here for the prince" she said as I kept it at just that and continued eating the delicious food that has been prepared for us.
What about me? Do I choose the crown? The wealth? Or Kim Seokjin himself?
Maybe I'll answer that question another time...
