Chapter 4
So apparently Harry is going to be around me forever? This still doesn't feel real. I don't want him! He's annoying and temperamental. What am I going to do? He sees my frustration from across the room and laughs.
"This is all just a big joke to you isn't it." I spat.
"Yup." he says with a smirk.
I groan. "Can't you go anywhere else?" I ask.
His face darkens. "No, and if you don't like it thats too bad. It's out of your control."
"Don't get mad at me" I say. Seriously whats his problem?
"I haven't done anything to you and you have been mad at me all night." he says back.
"You have too! You are annoying, and cocky, and moody, and so egotistical!"
"Well you're rude, bossy, and you don't even know me!"
"You haven't told me anything!"
"Well maybe it's better like that"
I am hurt. If he doesn't like the way I act towards him then maybe he should tell me something to change my mind. But I don't care. I don't want to know anything about that self loving jerk. "Fine." I say
"Fine." he says and turns away from me. He sure does have a lot of triggers. What's his problem?
I huff out a big breath of air and walk back to my bathroom. When I see myself in the mirror I realize I still haven't taken off the cap from the salon. And it makes me look weird. Is this how I've looked while I was talking to Harry? Eew.
I peel the cap off and my hair comes tumbling down to my waist in soft, shiny curls. It looks fantastic. It's longer too. I step back and take in my full reflection. I look good. I smile to myself and go back into my room. Harrys eyes rake over my entire body. It's not very subtle either.
I open my mouth to tell him off for checking me out but my mom calls from downstairs. "Lana? I made waffles!" Ooh! Yay! Breakfast!
I start out the room and Harry follows me. I whip around. "And where exactly do you think you're going?" I ask.
He looks at me like I'm stupid. "To eat breakfast, obviously."
"Oh, no no no no no!" I say. "My parents can not know about you." He rolls his eyes and tries to shove past me. But I throw my arm out to block him. "They can't know your first generation. It would be bas for both of us believe me."
"Lana, I want food. And how bad could they really be?" He tries to shove past me again.
"No! I will bring some food back here. You're not normal. They will think you are an actual person. And if you come downstairs with me they will get the wrong idea." I say.
"So tell them I'm your protector."
"But your First Generation. Other protectors don't stay with their person. They wont believe me, and if they do they will probably ship me off to some place to find out why I need a First Generation protector. Okay? Please I will bring you up food, just stay here." I say.
He rolls his eyes again, "Okay fine, whatever."
I breathe out a sigh of relief and go downstairs. When I get there the waffles are already done cooking. I grab a plate and sit down. My mom puts two waffles on my plate. I pick up the syrup and drizzle it over my food. When I take a bite I can't help but close my eyes. The food is so delicious.
I eat very quickly to get back upstairs. I finish my waffles within five minutes. I hop off the stool, grab two waffles, and run back upstairs. "You sure were hungry!" My mom yells from downstairs.
"Yup." I yell back. When I walked back into my bedroom Harry is looking through my suitcase. I run up to him and swat his hands away from my things. he just looks up at me and smiles a cheeky smile. when he smiles his dimples pop out, they are so big. Lord.
I roll my eyes and say, "I got you food." I practically throw the waffles at him and they almost hit the floor. he catches them and sneers at me. I roll my eyes again and start packing my stuff. I want to go back to my little apartment.
45 minutes later I am packed and ready to leave. "We going somewhere?" Harry asks.
"Yes we're going to my apartment where I live." I say.
"Oh, I thought you lived here." Harry says.
"God no, I couldn't stand to live here all the time. My parents smother me too much. They hover, that's why I moved out at 18."
He replies with a simple "Oh, okay." and walks away.
I sling my duffel bag over my shoulder and turn to face him.
"You can't let my parents see you." I say. I go to my closet and dig out my rope ladder that I used to sneak out in my teenage years. I open the window and hook the ladder to the windowsill. It drops all the way down to the ground with a clack clack clack.
Harry looks at me like I'm stupid once again. "And what are you expecting me to do exactly?"
"I thought it was obvious. Start climbing." He looks at me with his eyes wide in shock. "Do it!" I say. He gives me a little head shake but starts climbing nonetheless. when he reaches the ground I pulled the ladder back up. I walk over to my closet and put it in its hiding place.
I lean over the window and yell "Go to the driveway!" he shakes his head again and starts walking.
I smile to myself and head back downstairs. I bid farewell to my family despite their protests and walk out the door.
When I get to the end of the driveway Harry's waiting for me next my mobi. I put my stuff inside and get in. Harry slides in next to me and we pull out of the driveway.
I drive for about 30 minutes before I jam the levitator button. We shoot up in the air. I was not about to listen to Harry complain about how slow I drive. Again. He hasn't shut up since we have started driving. The next time he says something annoying I'm going to reach over and smack him.
He opens his mouth to say something but I cut him off, "I swear to God if you complain about my driving I will smack you!" I say. He looks takes aback but a smile creeps onto his face. He laughs and runs his fingers through his hair. Oh my goodness that was so attractive. Damn he's hot. Im starting to melt into a little puddle.
I shake my head to clear it. What am I thinking he is annoying. This is Harry. He is my protector. I can not think like that. Nope.
After 3 hours I set my mobi down in the parking lot of my apartment. I breath a sigh of relief and step out. Even when we were in the air he wouldn't shut up. He is really good looking but his mouth kills it.
I stretch my stiff legs and walk up the stairs. I finally reach the end of the stairs and get to the door of my place. I whip out the key and jam in the lock. I give it a little turn and it unlocks. The door swings open and I throw my hands up. "I'm home!" I yell. I step through the doorway and walk into the living room. Immediately I collapse on my couch. "It's so good to be back!" I say loudly "Home sweet home."
I raise my head up slightly and noticed Harry's eyes on me. I raise my eyebrows and he lets out a small chuckle. "What?" I demand. he just shakes his head and turns around. "Really what is it?" I say to his retreating back.
"Nothing, you look funny. That's all." he says with another chuckle.
"You look funny!" I retort. he just shakes his head and walks further away.
