Year: 1987

Reader's POV

"Y/N!!! Y/N!!" my boss Alejandro yelled

"What?!" I yelled back

"Is what I heard true?! You lost another customer again?!!" he yelled louder

"Look he was a filthy scrub and a narcissistic asshole so while wouldn't I drop him?!!" I said

"You kicked him out the store!"

"Alejandro, I work behind this damn desk and I'm here to scan and receive payment for the junk here! Not to entertain filthy drunkards!" I said

"Blah Blah Blah! You know what I've got news for you young woman!" he said

"For your information Alejandro, I am a grown ass woman thank you very much and I won't be needing that damn news anymore because I QUIT! Got it?!" I shouted at his face

I then grab my things and my coat before power walking to the door.

"Goodluck running this hellhole alone dipshit!" I said before exiting.

The cold winter air hits me and I shivered and quickly wore my coat.

Ok. I'm officially jobless, and I'm about to be homeless the next month if I don't get a job.

And there's still these many bills and ugh!

I need to unwind. I need a drink

I walked and headed to the nearest bar or club or whatever's near me right now and went inside

Luckily, it's the one where I'm a regular at.

I know I shouldn't be drinking. But I'm really stressed out now. It's the only thing that can make problems go away.

Even if it's just temporary.

"Y/N! Your back" Durell, the owner whom you're childhood friends with said

"Yes. Durell I'm back. I'll be around. I'll take the usual" I said and he nods

I then walked away and sat at an empty table waiting for my drink when something caught my eye.

The stage.

I've never thought about actually singing in public. But now I'm having second thoughts.

It wouldn't hurt right?

There's only a few people in here now. And everyone is drunk as hell or probably too busy flirting with the waitresses.

Why not?

***Later***

I probably sang three full songs already and a circle has formed around me trying their best to see me better.

"She's out of my life
She's out of my life"
I sang

"Hey Michael Jackson girl!" someone yelled coz I've been singing 3 Michael Jackson songs already

"Do "Blame It On The Boogie"!!"

Everyone agrees and I smiled at them.

"Sure!" I said

The intro started playing.

"My baby's always dancing
And it wouldn't be a bad thing
But I don't get no loving
That's no lie

We spent the night in frisco
At every kind of disco
From that night I kissed our
love goodbye

Don't blame it on the sunshine
Don't blame it on the moonlight
Don't blame it on the good times
Blame it on the boogie

Don't blame it on the sunshine
Don't blame it on the moonlight
Don't blame it on the good times
Blame it on the boogie"

I kept singing while everyone dances.

I saw one guy who's wearing a surgical mask have no partner.

He's looking at me.

I smiled brightly at him and gestured for him to come closer to me as I danced with joy while singing.

His eyes light up as he slowly walks nearer to me and we both danced together as I sing.

Somehow, this guy looks familiar to me. Like, I've seen him before. I just don't remember when.
