Alyssa and I parted our ways as she walked into her 1st period class. she had math first while I went off to english. alyssa and I had always been attached at the hip. we spent every summer together vacationing and doing whatever we wanted. our parents were all friends in high school and in fact, they went to the same school that we go to. our families have money. my parents both worked in real estate and her mom stayed at home while her dad on the other hand, was a very busy surgeon.

i walked into class and sat in the back and played on my phone until the bell rang like I did every period. Mr. Johns walked in and greeted the class. I liked him. I had him my freshman year for English 1 and we got along well. he's a good teacher.

"ahh Miss. Robins!" he said pointing at me. "it's good to see a familiar face."

"i agree." I stated smiling back at him.

The day went by kind of slow but I finally made it to 7th period which was History. confused, I looked at my schedule and realized that Miss Lovato wasn't my teacher. my course schedule said that I had Mr. Scott. I was kind of disappointed because I was looking forward to seeing her gorgeous brown eyes again. something about seeing her everyday would make school actually worth coming to. even if it was over a simple crush that would inevitably go nowhere.

i walked into class and there she was. sitting at the desk right by Mr. Scotts. I sat in that same row but all the way in the back and pulled out my phone to text Alyssa.

"Emily?" Mr. Scott said.

"huh yeah. I'm here!'" I started realizing I was paying more attention to texting alyssa than I was to class.

"okay, so now that I have EVERYONE'S attention this is Miss. Lovato. she will be our student teacher this year so please make her feel welcome and..." Mr. scott looked at me as I was checking my phone one last time before putting it away. "Miss. Robins, if your phone is going to be that much of a distraction then you can give it to Miss. Lovato. you can get it back after class." he stated firmly.

i got up and placed my phone in front of Demi. when I got back to my seat, I realized I forgot to lock it and the messages between alyssa and I were still up. Demi looked down at my phone as Mr. Scott continued talking and I could tell that she was reading the messages. with that I buried my face in my hands. I glanced at her she she looked back at me, her cheeks a little red.

'why is she blushing?' I thought to myself but quickly brushed my thoughts away as I was trying to pay attention but I couldn't. I was too mesmerized by the back of Demi's head.
