"Mrs. Stone? We need you to come down to the morgue to identify a body."
A question and a request changed my life forever. Who could've known that "The Human Rock Kierra" could be knocked down by a simple phone call. For all I knew, It wasn't Kaleb. Instead it could be a total mistake, a misunderstanding. But it wasn't. The rest of my family didn't live in New York so it couldn't of been any of them. Kaleb and I didn't have any children. I remembered thinking, God. I am so glad we don't have any children. It would so hard to tell them.
"Um... Yeah sure." I trailed off, wondering how the hell I'd get through this. I hung up the phone in a zombie like trance. I pulled on my socks and shoes, didn't bother to put on makeup, and walked out of the door.
I started up my Volvo Sedan, a birthday gift from Kaleb. The car rumbled to life under my stiff body as I pulled out of the driveway.

"Oh my god. Yes it's him. That's my Kaleb." I probably sounded like a wounded mother but at the moment it was all I could say.
A few days later my friend, Nancy, found me lying in bed. I was pale, cold, and unmoving. Although I still had a pulse, it was faint. I survived (miraculously) and from then on, I've been on the road, looking for Kaleb's murderer. So far I've come up short.
"What would you like?" The cashier at the counter asked. This place was nice enough so I decided to make my pitstop here.
"How about today's special-" I held up the menu and analyzed it, "split pea soup." It sounded good enough. "And some water."
The woman nodded went off to the kitchen to tell them about my order.
"Hello there. You look bored." Usually when random men tried talking to me, I told them to take a hike. Today, I was feeling weak.
"Fuck off." I said, hoping that my voice would hold the malice that I wanted it to. Unlike the other ones, he smirked and sat down next to me.
"I'm not that easy to get rid of. Are you here with anyone?" he asked.
"No. I'm alone. Why do you care?"
"You looked lonely."
"I'm not looking for your help." I said coldly, without looking at him.
I paid the cashier the money for the food and walked back to my car.
"WAIT!" This one was definitely persistent in his actions. I turned round and glared at him.
"Yes?"
"I can help you with whatever your doing."
"Yeah right. You mean help me with unbuttoning my pants?" He shook his head, no. I scowled at him. I had to admit, he was very cute. But I couldn't let him get to me. I frowned and finally gave in. I nodded and opened the drivers side of my car and said "Get in." It was a simple command and to my surprise, he followed it.
