Kai: I'm sat right next to you, I can see them and hear you, dumbass.

Emma: True...

Emma: I just don't want to break the silence!

Kai: Keep telling yourself that.

__________

Sighing, I shook my head and turned to look at my simpering best friend, her golden locks surrounding her like a halo, her blue eyes closed as she smiled blissfully. She reached for my hand, taking it in hers and sharing her glowing warmth. To me, she was an angel; a goddess, even! She was my Aphrodite; my Athena; my Artemis; wrapped into one heavenly mix. She was my rock, and I was the lonely girl that rested upon her strong shoulders. She was everything I wanted to be and more.

Emma turned to look at me, her blue eyes sparkling like the very stars above the two of us. She smiled. I smiled back.

"Want to go in the sea?" Emma asked mischievously, that devious grin that I knew all too well slowly edging its way across her lips.

"It's freezing," I stated, frowning and sitting up, dropping Emma's hand onto the soft sand, looking out into the vast and unwavering sea. I did not particularly wish to go home to my mum soaking wet and cold; she'd have me murdered on the spot.

"Who cares?" She teased, getting up and dragging her t-shirt over her head and pulling down her leggings, sticking out her tongue at me and rushing to the sea.

Screeching, she splashed around, beckoning for me to join her. Eventually, I sighed, groaning as I pulled myself from my place on the sand and did what she had once done.

Goosebumps immediately arose on my skin, rising to meet the cold of the winter night. I didn't like the cold; I had no particular reason.

Slowly, my legs were submerged in the water, and shivering, I stood close to Emma, hoping she'd be kind enough to share her warmth. It was the only thing I wanted; her, me and warmth.
