Finally, the last piece of furniture was off the moving truck and in my new apartment. My sister Mackenzie was a big help but as usual Drew did nothing. Worn out from exhaustion, we are sitting on my sofa lounging. Suddenly, I hear a stern knock on my front door.
"Might be the moving men with that lousy ass tip you gave them." Drew said.
"It better not be, they broke half of my shit anyway." I grumbled.
Drew snickered at me, "ohhh she must be big mad, she's cussing." Mackenzie chuckled as well.
I got up from my spot and opened the front door. A tall brown skin man stood with a friendly smile. Who is this?
"I couldn't help but notice you moving in. I'm Gavin Caine. My wife and I stay next door. I just wanted to welcome you to the building." He stuck his hand out I politely shook it.
I smiled at the warm invitation, truthfully I didn't expect anyone to stop by. "That's nice, it's nice to meet you Gavin, I'm Taylor Daniels. Did you want to come in or-"
"Oh no, I just wanted to greet you, my wife Lyric wanted me to bring you these and invite you to dinner." He handed me a plate of cookies and they looked delicious.
"Wow these smell great!" I breathed the aroma in deeply and couldn't help but smile. Chocolate chip cookies were my favorite.
"Yeah Lyric is an amazing cook, the cookies are homemade."
"Oh man, tell her i said thank you but unfortunately I can't do dinner tonight. My sister and best friend want to celebrate. So raincheck?"
He raised his hands in peace, "say no more, I completely understand. Just let me know when you are free and we will go from there."
I felt so welcomed, if he is this nice, I can't wait to see his wife. "Sounds like a plan Gavin. See you soon." I took the plate and he walked away with a polite wave. I closed the door walked back to the sofa. I plopped down on the couch with the cookies in tow.
Drew and Mackenzie stared at me. "What?'
Mackenzie spoke up first. "Who was that?"
"A man perhaps?"
"Yeah my neighbor Gavin Caine." Drew looked at me like i had something on my face.
"And?" I am lost right now, what does he want me to say?
"And what Drew?" He smacked his lips like it was the most obvious thing on the planet.
"What does he look like? Is he single? Like honey, you need to start making your bed available. And he stay next door! That's even better. Dick on demand!" Mackenzie was laughing so hard she turned red in the face. I held up my hands giggling.
"Drew the man is married."
"So bitch, just tell me, is he fine?"
"Drew, he is handsome. I'm sure his wife thinks he is a catch."
"Mackenzie do you hear this heifer? She keep slinging that word around like its gonna stop me. She must not know. Baby i don't care about the wife. It ain't stop me before." I face palmed in defeat.
"Drew you are ridiculous."
"What ever, but in other news, are we still going out?"
"Oh she don't have a choice. She promised already."
"Well let's get to it. This shit can wait." said Drew.
After a long night of drinks and celebration, the sun awakened my from a deep slumber. My head pounded terribly. The taste of tequila still lingered. And to top it off, i could hear Drew butchering a song playing on his phone.
