A/N: This is a vivid nightmare that I had a few nights ago and some of my readers wanted to read it. This is actually 3 chapters in 1, Mind you, the duration of a dream is approximately 8 seconds and I'm almost at 5,500 words so far. That's how descriptive this nightmare was. Thanks for reading and please vote if you enjoy and you can read other nightmares in 'Epiphany'.
It was late, my husband and I snuggled up together on the couch watching TV as I started to doze off into a much needed sleep after working my ass off all day. Our bedroom was behind us and I thought I heard something behind the closed door, I sit up looking behind me seeing the door still closed with the light off. "What is it, baby?" Chad asked me still lying down. "I thought I'd heard something in our room, maybe I'm just tired." I answered crawling back into his arms. I closed my eyes again and felt myself starting to drift again when I heard a thump in our bedroom again. Startled, I sat up quickly again knowing I'm not hearing things this time. When I looked at our door, the bedroom light was on and I could see a shadow moving around in our room.
"Chad, someone is in our room!" He jumped up almost sending me to the floor trying to race to our intruder. He must have jumped out of the window because Chad opened our coat closet by the front door grabbing his gun and ran outside with me on his heels.
He took a sharp left towards the side of the house and let out an oomph as him and our intruder collided into each other. I couldn't make out his face over the flying fists and profanities and Chad trying to hold him to the ground."Naomi, call the police! Hurry!" I ran inside as fast as I could and called the police. I ran back outside and the intruder was wiggling out of my husband's grasp. They both jumped to their feet and raised a gun to each other's face standing maybe six feet apart. As Chad pulled back the safety with his thumb, a shot rang through the air and blood splattered on my face and my shirt. Chad hit the ground hard, I let out an ear piercing scream as I ran to his side not caring if the intruder was going to kill me next or not. There was a bullet hole in his head so close to his temple. "Chad, baby stay with me! The police will be here any minute and we will get you to a hospital." I told him as I prayed that he wouldn't die. His eyes were half open, half closed and he still had a pulse. The police and ambulance arrive and put Chad into the back, I went to step into the back to ride with him to the hospital when a hand stopped me in my tracks.
"Where are you going?" A police officer asked me as the ambulance pulled away into the night leaving me alone with these cops. "Why couldn't I go with my husband? I have a right to go!" I was fuming with rage with tears still streaming down my cheeks. "I see no intruder, no signs of possible entry. Have you ever been to jail before?" He asked looking at me as if I'm the suspect! "What?!? You can't be serious! My husband was just shot in the head by another man and you're questioning me? I've done nothing wrong!" I was beyond outraged. "We just need someone to come to the station until we get some answers." He replied as he opened the back door of the police car.
I woke up in this jail or some kind or facility of some sort. This place was disgusting with the most foul smell. There was no booking, no jail cells. Hell I didn't even see any guards patrolling around. There were women walking around I'm assuming were the inmates or patients whatever this place is. They were....different. Something was off about this place, everyone was oddly quiet and looked at me like I was pretty much another blow fly swarming around the bodily fluids that lay on the floor pooled at my feet. I stayed quiet also, but in my mind I was freaking out. I slowly walked to a table that had no one seated and I pulled the chair out sitting down trying to let all of this sink in.
"Line up!" A gaurd shouted but was nowhere to be seen. I took this opportunity to take in my surroundings. Everyone started making their way fo the front of the room, around me there were open doorways, I could see two sets of bunk beds in each room where they housed their patients. But one door was closed and locked with a two by four across the front the front.
