My day was average until I saw him. You know that feeling when you see a rainbow on a cloudy day and it's like your whole day changes? Well it was like that, except I felt like I was hearing thunder on a rainy day.

I kinda stopped mid-way through the doorway and stared at him. Rolling my eyes, I pushed my wavy blonde hair back from bright green eyes and marched right up to my desk.

Shawn!" I huffed impatiently, swinging my backpack onto the floor. "Dude, can you get outta my seat?"

"Sure Maadddiieee," he retorted, drawing out my name as he rolled his deep brown eyes. He brushed away the curly bit of hair that fell into his eyes like he did when flirting with every other girl in the school. And the thing was, he didn't just flirt with juniors. He flirted with me. Sure, he was a junior and I was a freshman. But I was in advanced English and happened to be in his class. And the fact that I was a "stupid freshman" didn't stop him from taking every opportunity he could to ask me out.

"Mendes," I huffed, "what the heck is wrong with you?"

"Ohh Miss Smart Aleck, you tell me!"

I rolled my eyes and turned away to reach into my backpack. I started when he reached over and grasped my hoodie.

"Not so fast cutie. What grade do ya have in this class again?"

I looked up at his teasing face and couldn't help but wonder why the heck girls fell for him. "A one hundred and two percent," I said proudly. "What about you?"

"Same," he smirked. "And I happen to know we have the highest grades."

"Mendes, don't include me in we. I don't wanna be associated with you." I rolled my eyes, biting my lip.

"What??" He mocked. "You don't wanna be associated with cutest, smartest, best dude in the whole school? Oh and by the way, I'm thinking about writing a song about you. You know, how you have something wrong with you that you don't like me."

"No thanks." I said. "You're a creep. And I'll stick with the ones who don't breathe down my neck every chance they get."
