SMILE
—————

You grunted, adjusting the stack of paper, sketchbooks, and canvases in your arms, the portfolio under your armpit. Your phone fell out of your pocket in the midst of your shuffling so you stopped to pick it up.

You ended up dropping the papers in your hand, but managed to get your phone in your back pocket and grabbed your precious papers before anyone stepped on them.

You blew a strand of hair out of your face in an annoyed manner and quickened your pace to the train station.

Once you got there you were greeted by Yoongi, who gave you a small smile and wave, but was quickly morphed into a face of surprise when you shoved your portfolio in his arms so you could adjust and organize the loose papers you had.

"Could you hold the folder open for me," you asked.

While Yoongi complied, he was still very confused, "Uh, what is all this."

"My homework."

He laughed, "You can't be serious. You're an art student how much homework could you possibly have."

You gave him the coldest glare you could muster, causing him to quickly apologize to you.

"But, specifically, what is all of this and why do you need it all today?"

You sighed, pushing a strand of hair behind your ear, "My professor has us turn in what we created over the course of a month to grade it. So I need to bring everything in to class today. But another professor of mine is checking our sketchbooks today and I haven't finished it."

You pouted, Yoongi chuckling and pulling at your cheeks.

Suddenly, a lightbulb went off in your head, "Hey Yoongi, don't move."

"Wh—"

"Don't. Move."

In the blink of an eye you whipped out your sketchbook and a pencil and started sketching. Every once in a while you'd glance up at Yoongi, sometimes telling him to move his face a bit to the right or left—every which way really.

Soon enough you were done with him and began sketching people and objects around you, Yoongi observing you as you drew.

He was amazed that you could produce something so good in such a short amount of time.

"Wow, you're pretty good," he grinned.

You laughed, "I sure hope so, I'm not going into debt for some lousy elementary art class."

He chuckled.

You looked up, "So, seriously: how are you doing?"

His smile changed a bit, turning slightly sour, "The same."

You put a hand on his shoulder, "Come on, you can't give up now, you're doing what you love and that's all that matters."

He nodded.

You sighed, "Look at me," you grabbed his shoulders, "I've only known you for a few months now, but even I can tell that your passion for music is something you care deeply about. I don't want to see you put yourself down because people aren't appreciating your work. Your time will come. I promise you that."

You looked away, seeing that you arrived at your stop. You turned back to face him, looking unsure of yourself.

You swiftly wrapped your arms around him in a comforting embrace, pulling away as quickly as it started, "Bye, Yoongi."

His eyes were unmoving, staring at the space you just left.

A/N: My intention for this chapter was to bring to light the struggles that came at the beginning of BTS' career. Of course they weren't as popular as they are now during their early areas. Since this story takes place between the O,RUL82? album through the Skool Luv Affair music video releases, they were still relatively new.

Before I edited this author's note, I had some false information regarding the rumor that BTS almost disbanded during the N.O. era, which I now know is not true. I'm sorry if I was the one to misinform any of you about this.

Sorry the chapter's pretty short, but I hope you liked it :)

Bye~
