Everyone was screaming. Who could blame them? I guess an alien invasion would be cool if they weren't killing everyone.
I ran out of the house. The aliens had already made it to our part of the city. Dead bodies filled the streets. Aliens were capturing everyone, killing those that resisted.
"Kiddo, you can't go out there!" Mr. Shamen called to me.
"I have to. My mom is still out there!" I ran.
My house was two miles away, and with people running like mad throughout all the streets, taking the car might not be the best idea.
A laser shot by my head. I ducked and it hit the car, blowing it up.
"Mom's gonna kill me!" Another laser shot by. "But right now, I'm sure she has bigger things to worry about!"
I ran, one alien persued, firing lasers at me. These aliens had laser guns! How could the army stand up against that?
I continued through the crowded streets, worry filled my mind every time I thought of my mom. She could already be dead for I all knew.
I shook the thought away. The alien behind me had given up, and chased some other guy instead. I felt bad for throwing that guy onto him, but I had to get to my mom.
I ran by a tv with the news playing.
"U.S. army has been taken down, They are sending all the reinforcements as possible, avoid these aliens at all costs, t-"
An alien tackled her, while another held this device to her. They were talking in this language that sounded like gargled chatter. One of them nodded, and they took her away. Each of the aliens wore this strange armor. It was black with glowing purple markings. Their helmets had a glowing purple symbol that had three upside down triangles over a diamond, which was above this butterfly shape, above another diamond. It's kinda hard to describe.
I continued to run. I was almost there.
Another laser flew by, I turned my head to see who was following. No one, meaning an alien missed it's target and almost hit me.
I had reached the farm where the chickens were freaking out. I couldn't focus on that, I kept running.
When I made it to the top of the hill, I was too late. They were already dragging my mom out of the house.
"MOM!" I yelled.
"Zack?!" A mix of relief and fear filled her eyes as she realized that I was okay, but just gave myself away.
One of the three aliens that were holding back my mom turned to face me.
"NO!" My mom yelled. "Don't touch him!" She struggled against them.
I was angry. No one messes with my mother and gets away with it.
I ran at the alien, hoping to knock it aside, but it grabbed me and shoved me to the ground, placing a knee on my back. They were a lot stronger than I thought.
It grabbed my wrists and pulled them behind my back, trying to put them in handcuffs.
I struggled as another one came up and held one of those devices up to my neck.
They made those weird low chattering noises and nodded. That's what they did the news lady before they took her away...
They lifted me to my feet, one fiddled with their belt and pulled out cuffs, leaving it's gun at it's side.
I shoved my shoulder up the alien's stomach, grabbing it's gun as it toppled to the ground. The other had let go of my wrist at the sudden force.
I pointed the gun at one of the aliens holding my mom, and almost fired, but this massive shock was sent through my body, and I collapsed to the ground.
"Zack!" My mom shouted, but they pulled her back, and dragged her away.
I held out my hand and looked at her one last time before everything went black.
When I woke up, I was in this strange alien vehicle, almost like a car.
"Where am I?" I sat up, noticing my hands were cuffed to the seat. There was only one alien there, and it was driving us somewhere.
"Where are you taking me?" I then remembered all that had happened. "Where are you taking her?! Where's my mom?!"
No answer.
"Answer me!"
They were silent, but I could have sworn I had heard a pained sigh.
"Why are you doing this?"
Still no reply.
"C'mon, you at least owe an answer to that question."
Then he finally spoke. "If I could answer you, boy, believe me, I would."
"Y-you speak English?"
He sighed again. "We scanned some of your people, and downloaded your language into our helmets. They act as a translator. We have ear devices that we will use when our helmets are off."
"Who are you? What's going on?" I wasn't getting any answers, and I wasn't too pleased about it.
"My name is Zarbeck. We call ourselves Ulzarians, much like you call yourselves humans. I do believe that is the correct name?"
"Yeah..." I narrowed my eyes, "your still not answering my questions."
"I can't answer everything at once. Besides, I can't give you that information."
"Why not?"
"I will be killed if I say anything out of place."
"So you're not going to explain why you are murdering millions, maybe more?! You're not going to even try to justify your actions?! We deserve an explanation!"
"I don't have that information! The Emperor only shares that information with his most trusted advisors. All I've heard were rumors..."
"'Rumors'?"
"I- forget I said anything."
"No, tell me, what rumors?"
"I've said too much."
"No, no! You're not saying enough," I struggled against the handcuffs.
"Stop that," he sighed once again.
"Give me some answers."
"Look, boy, you'll get your answers soon enough, just you wait. We're almost there anyway..."
"Almost w-" my eyes widened.
Outside I could see a huge building come into view. A large fence, a wall more like, protecting it. I couldnt quite see past the walls, but a dome was barely visable above them. A large, purple forcefield-looking dome with a diamond patterning. The walls had one of the purple symbols on it.
"What is That?"
Zarbeck slowed down. "That is the Arena."
