The expedition. Part 1. Ep19

The bell rang as it echoed through the village, all of us soldiers lining up as we waited for the gate to open. I sat on my horse beside Eren, my hands clutching the handles. "Thirty seconds until the gate opens!"

Me and Eren notices two young boys staring out of their windows, "wow! It's the survey corps! The mark on their back is called the wing of freedom, you know!"

We looked at each other an smile at the children, making them aw even more.

"It's time! In mere moments, mankind will advance once again." The soldier infront said to us. "Show us what you're made of!"
Everyone raised their blades and fists, cheering. I just sat, concentrating. "Hey, Eliza, you okay?"
I turned round to notice Zachary was behind me.

"Course I am. I'm more than okay!" I said, smiling. "Are you ready?"

Zachary nodded, smirking. "We can do this. I know we can."

I continued to smile at him and turned towards the gate when it began to open.  "Open the gate!" Father shouted as the gate emerged from the ground. He looked sternly onwards. "FORWARD!" He shouted so loudly it was heard throughout Wall Rose. All of us soldiers began to run onwards as only the horses hooves were heard. "We now begin the 57th expedition! Advance!"

We went through an abandoned village that remained as ruins to start off with.
"10 metre class approaching from the left!" Hanji shouted.

Two soldiers flew over to the Titan, and began to kill it off.

~Flashback~

"The cover team can only help us until the old town." Gunther said as the scroll was opened. I was sitting beside Eren, who was looking at the formations. "After that we'll be on our own in Titan territory. We can only count on the long range scouting formation Commander Erwin devised. We, the special operations squad, will go here."

"Olulo, sir, do you think the other recruits can defeat the Titans?" Eren asked Olulo. 

"What have you been doing this whole month?" Olulo asked. "Listen up, brat! The success of extramural expeditions depends on how well you can avoid fighting the Tita-" He bit tongue as blood gushed out and his pupils disappeared.

Erwin pointed his arm to the left "into log range scouting formation!" Everyone dis merged from the crowd and went separate ways as Zachary waved goodbye. "Good luck!" He shouted. This was it.

After a while of going forward, flares filled the sky. "Flares. Green. Olulo, you shoot." Levi said.

"Roger!" He shouted back as he shot the green flare in the sky.

"Report in! Attack from the rear! The right wing suffered severe losses!" The shoulder explained. "Parts of the scouting formation are no longer functional! Please pass this message on to the left!"

"You heard, Petra? Go." Levi said to her.

"Yes, sir!" She said as she went towards the left.

Eren gasped. "That's where Armin is, Eliza!"

I looked solemn. "Oh god... I hope he's okay. Still, he and the others are closer to the centre."
