Moving was no fun. My parents lied. Leaving Dennis behind was the hardest part. We stuck with each other for the past two years, ever since coming from Hampshire. My dear father is always looking out for the family, even if it sacrifices our perfect lives back in the countryside. He was accepted into a business in California, working for Kagen Water.
Destination in 2.5 miles the GPS blurted, interrupting my favorite song "Hit or Miss" on the radio.
I looked out the window. It was nothing like I've seen before. Cars everywhere, I can feel the humidity and pollution in my hair. Plazas, restaurants, malls! In-n-out? Boy, I couldn't wait to try that!
Holy shit this place is magical
I said frantically in my head. I'm not allowed to cuss or say poopy words. They're bad, as told by my wonderful parents. I dozed off, reading signs and sales on the colorful brick buildings on every busy street.
"Kenneth! We have arrived!"
Oh boy. You don't even know how long I've been waiting for those three words.
"Wow, dad! We have a front yard AND a giant tree in front of our house?"
They were right. Alabama is perfect. The neighborhood is beautiful. We live near McDonald's and my new school is right down the block!
